here is the only other problem I have had with oz-3.36-pre1 on a SL-5500, the calendar (default) always starts in the month January and year 2003 even though the system time is correct.  Anyone know why???

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / problem with SD in 3.3.6pre1

I have a Lexar 256mb SD, and a Sandisk 256mb SD. Both I have tried to install 3.3.6pre1 with, and both, touchscreen doesn\'t work at all when in, locks up the device, cursor appears in the middle , on the left hand side, just blinking black cursor, then if i eject it, zaurus comes magically back to life.
anyone know why that is? report similar experiences? I\'d love to use my SD for its purchased purpose, rootfs for the Z.

I\'ve got both lexar and sandisk 256sd cards too, with oz 3.3.6-pre1 and mine is working fine.  Only thing I can think that might be different, is I\'m using the sd as my actual /home and /lib/share directories and the 64mb memory - 0 storage kernel.  I originally tried the 32-32 kernel and had constant lock-ups with it, don\'t know why the 64-0 kernel is so much more stable.  Been running it about a week and a half now without a single lockup, using a Ambicom wireless in the cf slot, and finally got QtopiaDesktop-1.7 to syncronize with Gentoo-1.4 - life seems great here.

I know this message has to do with /dev/random and /dev/urandom but how do I get around this error message on the sharp zaurus to allow me to creat an ssh key?

I\'ve did google and a search here for the error message and also ssh-keygen without any luck.

If you can help me with this one question, I\'ll be able to make the rest of ssh setup a breeze.

Sharp ROMs / My impression/opinion of Sharprom 3.13 on SL-5500 & ques

The 2.x ROMs used XML for the PIM data. The 3.x ROMs use a propriertary Sharp DTM database format for the PIM data. They are totally incompatible and no version of Qtopia Desktop under Linux can use the DTM format.

Someone has written an xml2dtm tool using a Windows header file and documentation that Sharp released, but that only works on the Zaurus since it requires the DTM library (binary only) which of course is compiled for the ARM processor.

Anyway, the DTM files are under /home/zaurus/Applications/dtm

thanks for the information, I thought that folder wasn\'t on the 2.x rom and it had a bunch of files in it in the 3.x rom.

Software / You call this Linux?

there is a gentoo port for the sharp, don\'t have the link handy and have not tried it either, but I do run gentoo on my laptop and it only took me about a week to get it configured correctly......not for those who get impatient easily.  It wasn\'t an experience thing either, have run linux since my first windows 9x computer crashed the day I bought it in 1995.

General Discussion / openzaurus 3.3.6
« on: March 01, 2004, 08:07:16 am »
i had a lot of troubles with 3.3.6 too, mostly hard lock-ups on a 5500 without doing much of anything or even on a network.  Matter of  fact, I had so much trouble, it lasted less than 24 hours installed and I was quickly testing different roms cause I had just got a 5500 so didn\'t take the time to try to figure out why.  I liked all the reviews of oz , so maybe I\'ll try a different version.

Lack of abilility to sync on Linux from the cradle is what keeps me from running ROMs other than Sharp 2.38 and Qtopia 1.7 ( I\'m also using Mandrake on the desktop). I can\'t wait to try tkcROM 2.0 final to see if it will sync in Linux. Syncing with Evolution would also be a major plus.

does anyone know where the calendar and addressbook data is stored in the sharp 3.13 rom?  I have been using ssh and scp to transfer files over usb-ethernet and wireless from linux laptop and desktops, and using backup to save addressbook and calendar.......but I\'d really like a way to view the files so I can figure out another way to sync them.  I\'ve looked all over the file system on the sharp and only thing I can find is my vcard in the addressbook folder.

Although I am a newbie to the sharp 5500 (less than 1 week), I have been a linux developer for a few years.

Also, does anyone know if the data from those two apps are backward compatible...i.e., if I decide to go back to 2.38, will the addressbook and calendar data be imported from 3.13?
