Angstrom & OpenZaurus / usb connection failed to work on 3.5.1 ??

I meant are you using a 5500 or a 5000D? If so the above script won't work for you. You'd need to alter all occurances of pxa_bi to sa1100_bi (or is it sa1110_bi?).

Si
Ah it is a 5500

@tunemx: Which device are you using?

Si
Oh, sorry, what do you mean?

I use OZ 3.5.1 GPE, cradle USB, Linux is Mandrake 10.0.
Tried to get up usbd in Network Settings, checked dhcp (default option), but nothing happened. Still no connection to the Z.
I also checked static, and set up 192.168.129.201 as Address, and 255.255.255.0 as mask... Nothing too.

I tried GPE, now I cannot connect to the Z via the cradle. I tried network settings and set Address to 192.168.129.201.
OS is Mandrake 10. What I get is:
Code: [Select]
Sep 24 21:40:05 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: new full speed USB device using address 16
Sep 24 21:40:05 localhost kernel: usb0: register usbnet at usb-0000:00:1d.0-2.1, Sharp Zaurus SL-5x00
Sep 24 21:40:06 localhost usb.agent[4349]: ... no modules for USB product 4dd/8004/0
Sep 24 21:40:06 localhost usb.agent[4398]: ... no modules for USB product 4dd/8004/0
Sep 24 21:42:01 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: USB disconnect, address 16
Sep 24 21:42:01 localhost kernel: usb0: unregister usbnet usb-0000:00:1d.0-2.1, Sharp Zaurus SL-5x00
Sep 24 21:42:07 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: new full speed USB device using address 17
Sep 24 21:42:07 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: device not accepting address 17, error -110
Sep 24 21:42:07 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: new full speed USB device using address 18
Sep 24 21:42:08 localhost kernel: usb 1-2.1: device not accepting address 18, error -110

Tried lardman's script, pxa_bi was not loaded, net_fd said the usb device is busy. Please someone give me directions, I don't want to be a guinea pig anymore, I want to go back to a bad-looking but stable firmware, but this way I cant copy the necessary files to the CF card.

Thanks a lot.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OpenZaurus 3.5.1 released !!!

Very nice, this feed is!
It is having all my fav apps (mileage, keyring, zauralign, gaim), I hope Package Manager will be able to set it too! Yesterday I was unable to set any feeds for the Z... It kept constantly forgetting any feeds I was trying to set. Wish me more luck tonight.

Had my wlan settings worked once. Then I removed my Wifi card. It forgot everything. Now I can't setup the damn thing...
Try a reboot from the Settings->Shutdown app.

Are you using WEP or any kind of security on your Wireless network?
thanks, it works after got rebooted...

But who will solve the Package Manager mistery? Are old ipks still work? If no, how do I get them working?

Sharp ROMs / tkcROM and WCF12
« on: July 16, 2004, 04:54:48 pm »
When I set WCF12 on tkcROM iwconfig shows nothing. Why is that? The WLAN is working OK, but it seems like there is a wrapper around it, and it is not coming down to the system level. This way I can't even use it to run Kismet, or Wellenreiter, because these programs are not recognizing it as a valid device.

I am ssh'ing in into the Zaurus via WLAN connection, and then issueing "iwconfig". Here is the result. What's wrong?

Code: [Select]
[root@zaurus ~]# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

irlan0    no wireless extensions.

irda0     no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

And then "ifconfig"

Code: [Select]
[root@zaurus ~]# ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:0C:41:0B:01:25
          inet addr:192.168.1.103  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0

Sharp ROMs / tkcROM and WCF12

But this one is so hot it really bothers the Z so much, it just blanks the LCD and stops working after a good 20 minutes of Wifi use. I think it's pretty abnormal. I can only revive the unit when it is connected to AC again...

OK it was easy. Card connected, setting up SSID, and WEP, saying connect to the network connection subapp, and good to go.
However I have a problem. The card is really hot, even it is not used heavily, just connected and consuming energy. It makes even the Zaurus hot so it shuts down after an hour or so.

Is it happening to other WCF12 users too, or mine defected?

Hello!

I will get my first ever WLAN card, a Linksys WCF12. I have tkcROM installed on a SL-5500. What will I have to do after inserted the card? Just launch Network Settings, and choose Wireless? Or will I have to edit some files too?

Thanks for any information.

Mickeyl is the real expert here, but if you\'ve run out of ideas you might try the following.

\'/etc/init.d/opie start\' is the command which should start opie - look in this script and see whether you can work out what\'s going wrong.

You might also start syslogd before running this command, and then use logread (or logview, or something like that) to read what has been sent to it.

Si

Thanks I will try. Or re-flash everything if I fail.

/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/qpe started Opie, it works, but it is rotated (and spits out info to the display)

Opie still won\'t startup from a normal boot.
It cannot be a flash renaming problem, I already used this ROM for a week, and everything was OK.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Opie hangs (OZ3.3.6-pre1)

Hi there!

I have a serious problem. When I reboot my SL5500 (loaded with OZ3.3.6-pre1),  it is displaying the black screen with the dyno, and then \"Starting Opie...\", then after a few seconds \"openzaurus login:\" (although i did not press anything), and hangs... If I press anything after this point, it is displaying bogus characters.

What could went wrong? If I exit to the console, and start Opie by hand, it hangs too.

Any help appreciated, thanks
