Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.3 Gpe-image
« on: April 16, 2005, 04:25:09 pm »
Anyone using gpe on a 5600?  I think it works better on the 5500 because there is more ram on those machines.  With a clean install and a reboot ram usage is at atleast 95%.  This is pretty much the only thing holding gpe back from working great on poodle.

I removed all the applets and stopped a lot of programs and i still cant free up more than a total of 3 or 4 mb of ram. Any ideas?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.3 Gpe-image

I have been testing 3.5.3-gpe on my poodle and it looks great. There are just a couple of problems I have come across so far. First my wifi card (WL-672) was reckognized but not working.  To get it working I took the orinoco_cs.o module from 3.5.2 and copied it to my sd card and loaded it from there.  After I did that and put my wifi card in the net connection came up and a wifi applet in the launcher.  The net works great as long as I dont touch that wifi applet. If I do it freezes the device requiring a hard reset.  Im doing some more testing now so I will post more info later.

Sharp ROMs / Watapon ROM
« on: October 29, 2004, 03:41:37 pm »
I have watapon 1.4 installed on my 5600 and gaim is working perfectly for me. You just have to follow the instructions on the qpegaim website in order for it to work. There is a missing library file that you need to dl.  A complete package of gaim and the library would probably help out a lot of people.

Software / ogm files on 5600
« on: September 28, 2004, 02:05:00 am »
I've been trying to setup my z to play ogm files all night with no luck.  I had some issues installing vlc, i grabbed mplayer off cmisip's website but that was missing libvorbisdec, which i have not found a package for  the sharp rom.  This is driving me a bit crazy so if anyone has any info that could help me id appreciate it.  it is late so i could very well be missing something obvious.

General Discussion / gprs on zaurus

I\'ve searched around and it seems the audiovox cf gprs card works in a zaurus.  I was wondering if anyone can confirm it or has any input in the matter.  If this is the case I want to get a gprs card for mine for use with Tmobile.  (Ive also read in many posts that they offer free \"wap\" access...ie access to web and mail ports. But who says i cant cant setup a sshd on port 80 at home.    )

General Discussion / app\'s run fast enough?
« on: March 01, 2004, 09:08:38 pm »
I am deciding on a new pda and am currently debating between the sl-5500 and the sl-5600.
For example, I would think that the 5600 would be required to run mplayer quick enough for a xvid file.  Can someone let me know how program speeds are in the 5500 and the 5600?
