We hardly got any donations and banner clicks - don't get enough funds for normal pdaXrom development. Please click and donations.

Come on guys, please donate !
A monthly contribution would be great.
We had the same discussion not so long ago, where are all these promises about donations ?
Aren't you amazed by all the work the team is doing ? by the power, stability, the many packages available of the X rom ?

another idea is to have a rom without apps .make an sd card ext2 or 3 and load needed apps to that.
this way the rom would be small

This is exactly what I would like.

Hi it works fine and more fast than RC8 on a SL-C700.

Some things about:

Finally I have flashed all again but:
First I had put root partition to the maximal 47Mb. When all instalation procces finalice, a kernel panic appear (something with a sector, I dont remember well).
Then I had resize root partition to 46Mb (max-1Mb) and all goes normally.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=64577\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I, too, have a C700 and had a kernel panic at 47Mb, and I think I had a kernel panic once at 46Mb.  The big problem, however, was "out of space" errors at 45Mb.  It apperars that the ROM will flash without errors, and will boot, but doing almost anything leads to "out of space" errors the next time you boot.

Also, RC9 doesn't recognize my Netgear MA701 card, which RC8 and before had no trouble with.  I wonder if everything is installing on my 45Mb partition? In any case, it appears  that there is no room left to write necessary configuration files after flashing.

Has anyone else got RC9 running on a C700?

General Discussion / Zaurus users in the Seattle, WA area?
« on: August 02, 2004, 11:26:35 pm »
I am in the city of Sammamish.  Seattle is a bit of a drive, but Redmond, Bellevue, or Issaquah is  close.  I have a SL-5500 for my PDA and a C-700 for fun.

Actually, I am not sure that the testing tool ran correctly.  If  I type "exec ./test/mtdtest.sh" at the console command line, the first line I get is :

:bad interpreter: No such file or directory

the next line is:

bash: /mnt/cf/test/mtdtest.sh: Success

Does anyone have any suggestions?

First of all, you can use testing tool (mtdparts_test.tar.gz). Just decompress into your running rom and exec ./test/mtdtest.sh. Report any problem or success.

If testing is ok, you should be able to use modified installer. Follow the instructions from pdaxrom site to prepare your flash card. Before rebooting your z, put files from new installer to your root dir of your flash card (overwrite updater.sh). Reboot in maintenance mode, as told by pdaxrom. Patch mtdparts with 2n option "NAND Flash repartition: only Root". If you have a 750 you should also update maintenance kernel. Reboot in maintenance mode. Install new rom with option 1. Reboot. Voilà.

I finally tried to install this on my C700.  The testing tool reported "success."  When I tried to "NAND Flash repartition: only Root," I got an error message "Flash pattern NOT recognized.  Cannot patch flash."

What should I try next?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / What is current version?
« on: July 01, 2004, 02:08:46 am »
The displayed version is wrong.

9
Has any one tried this on a C700?
I would try it myself, but do not want to take a chance of bricking my Z.

10
What about a VNC server for pdaX?  Has anyone ported one?

what I meant to say is that I brook off the hooks on my cable and it now works fine with my C700.  the C750 should be the same.

Here\'s an idea, lets pool together a little cash and help offroadgeek with some of the related cost for the bw.
Least we can do since he ask\'s for little more than participation here.  I\'ll put up the first $10.00.

tapjpa.
I will second that!  Offroadgeek, if you have a paypal account, please post it so I can make a donation.

General Discussion / Touch typing on a C[78]x0
« on: January 09, 2004, 01:02:08 am »
Hi decay,
Haven\'t talked with you since we discussed registration of Virtual Intern on the Newton.  I almost always use the keyboard on the Zaurus.  Having used the Newton for several years, handwriting recognition on the Zaurus really doesn\'t cut it. (but then, nothing compares to the Newton as a PDA)
I see the C-700 as a neat, small Linux box and am anxious to compile the IO language for the Zaurus.  This is close enough to Newtonscript that it may be possible to port some of the Newton PIM apps over to the Z.  I am waiting for Sash to release his next x-11 ROM that will support the C-700 (the current version has problems with the stylus).  In the meantime, I am working on a Gentoo cross-compiling enviornment on my XP box under Virtual PC.
