Angstrom & OpenZaurus / console messages

I found a message on the externe.net forum that said echoing 1 to /proc/sys/kernel/printk sorts it and apparently does

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / console messages
« on: March 10, 2004, 10:19:24 am »
I just flashed my 5600 with OZ 3.3.5 and first impressions are good, apart from one small fly in the ointment... occasionally the console will pop up a message which will remain on the screen (at the bottom) until a redraw gets rid of it... an example of such messages is:

ts: pxyp=xxx(xxxx/y,xxxx/y)

or

netproto_recv: not up net dev-]flags 1002 (when I put it in the cradle)

they look like kernel messages, but how to switch off?

General Discussion / Recent 5600s have PXA255 processor?

tumnus, I\'d be curious to know your thoughts on the similarity between the two followinf results. It was my impression that the pre-empt kernel should be quicker than the standard sharp one.

On a PXA255 SL5600
This result from original Sharp 1.32 kernel

Dhrystone Benchmark, Version 2.1 (Language: C)
Register option not selected.
Microseconds for one loop:     2.8
Dhrystones per second:   351741.1
VAX MIPS rating:    200.194

This result from Standard pre-emptive kernel 1.2

Dhrystone Benchmark, Version 2.1 (Language: C)
Register option not selected.
Microseconds for one loop:     2.8
Dhrystones per second:   352559.6
VAX MIPS rating:    200.660

remarkably similar, no?

Software / updating to high speed bluez module
« on: March 05, 2004, 12:42:27 pm »
I\'m using the standard bluez as downloaded from here (thanks) but I wouldn\'t mind updating to the faster module. Since the standard one works with my card (Ambicom BT2000-CF) is it a safe assumption that the faster one will work? What files will bre replaced by the faster module so I can revert if I need to?

Ok.. I found a post that had different results for with and without VNC server running... does this make a difference for the standard kernel?
