Sharp ROMs / Lost Tcp/ip Sync Connection Cacko-winxp

Are you using the same USB port, I find it does not work on a different one.

I had a similar problem many years ago, fixed it by removing then re-installing the Zaurus software.

Mike

Thank you, Mike, for responding so quickly. I always used to change USB ports if I had no connection, which helped most of the times. In the meantime now I have done what I said I wouldn't do: reflash Cacko on my Zaurus. Syncing works again, but I have to install all the extra apps now when I need them. I did not try reinstalling Zaurus software on the PC this time, because it is also a rather complicated procedure installing the drivers and English Intellisync, copying files, uninstalling, installing Japanese version and pasting English files over it, while rebooting XP several times.
I also tried to install Zaurus drivers and Intellisync under Windows 7 btw, but I did not get a working TCP/IP connection there either. Has anyone experience with that?

Sharp ROMs / Lost Tcp/ip Sync Connection Cacko-winxp

After a solved issue with screen rotation on my SL-C3000 (caused by Kino2 and fixed by adding "HReverse = 1" to que.conf file) I am suddenly unable to connect to my PC for Outlook sychronisation. This has worked fine as a weekly routine for years and now XP keeps searching for an IP when connected and at last tells me that it cannot connect properly. Tried all tricks like disconnecting, switching to storage mode and back to TCP/IP, reconnecting etcetera.
I don't know if it has any relation to the que.conf action; it maybe  a coincidence. What can I do to make it work again? I even tried a XP-system recovery to an earlier working state, but no effect.

I hope anyone can help? PIM is the main use of my dear little Zaurus and I dont like to reflash again now.
Greetings, Bas

Hi,
I'll have a go at this when I get a bit of time.  Seems straighforward enough. I don't have a USB midi interface unfortunately to try it, but if I can build it I'll post it back.
A MIDI sequencer running on the Z would be a pretty cool app for Zaurus owning musicians.

Here's another Zaurus musician, three years later

Did you ever make something like this? Not too many musicians out here, I see. Just posted another[a href=\'index.php?showtopic=25990\'] request[/a]

User Request for Applications / Music Notation Software For Zaurus?
« on: July 20, 2008, 02:43:21 pm »
OK, to be more specific: NoteEdit seems to be rather suitable, since it is Qt/KDE based. I am a Linux-zero, so that might be already a nonsense statement I leave to the experts to judge. It is a very good and stable package, however it won't be continued for long as it will be followed by "Canorus", which is still in an expirimental stadium. I don't know if  a program like NoteEdit can be ported to the Zaurus, but who wants to make a try?

A much smaller example is: 'gcomposer'. Could that be transformed to a 'Zcomposer'? I don't need an extended music notation program on my Z (I have my PC for that) but writing down little ideas, play them back with a simple soundset and export them to midi or MusicXML would be great!

And indeed: are there more Z-musicians out there?? I found a guitar tuner 'Powerchord' and a tuner-metronome 'qMusician' 'but they both seem to be abandoned by their parents

And now we are talking music, there's one more wish: a small piano keyboard on the Zaurus touch screen!

Ciao, and a song to all of you

User Request for Applications / Music Notation Software For Zaurus?
« on: July 17, 2008, 03:34:51 pm »
I have been searching all the web for musician reladed software for my Z. (SL-C3000) It would be so nice putting little ideas to it while traveling by train or waiting in the dressing room...

Could anyone have a look at small apps like: NoteEdit, MuseScore or anything else that preferrably exports MusicXML files? Simple sound support would be even better. I am very attached to the easy PIM syncing under Sharp/Cacko Qtopia, so another distro is not my first option.

A complete list of notation related software can be found here: http://sound.condorow.net/notation.html

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Boot Problem In Slc3000
« on: July 04, 2008, 12:03:05 pm »
Hi there,

I did about the same with my C3000; trying Android after using Cacko beta. Now my harddisk turned into a complete mess. No booting, not able to flash to another rom, because with the Spitz the ' rom-image' is not in rom but for the greatest part in hdd1. I did a restore operation described at Figlabs. The repartitioning went well, but restoring the hdd image did not. I am still figuring out what to do to bring this nice white presse papier to life again!

Any help? Greetings from Barotti

Hi there,

The restoring instructions were very helpful to me, up to a certain point. One odd thing: In my "Spitz" hdc does not exist, but appears to be called hda... OK, so far so good, changing this made repartitioning work, but restoring the hdd image keeps me puzzled.

Executing the last line, starting with gzip -cd /mnt... , I get the error message "no such file or directory". Also here I found a filename difference between "c3000_hdd1.tar.gz" in the instructions and "c3000_hdd1.tar.tar" in the filename. However adapting the filename didn't change anything.
What am I doing wrong? I also tried the Trisoft hdd1 restore from the service menu, but at sector no. 250368 it stops with a read error.

So my C3000 is still dead. Any help is welcome!
