User Request for Applications / Looking for a wordprocessor.
« on: June 29, 2006, 06:17:42 pm »
It may not be what you want, but I do want to state that TextMaker is an excellent program and highly recommended.  It's a full graphical WYSIWYG word processor and, in over a year of heavy use, has yet to crash.  Also, I don't know where the development was done, but I believe the company is German. . . .

User Request for Applications / Checkbook Software

Does anyone know if there is a financial package equivalent to Moneydance for the Zaurus?  I desperately need one and will gladly pay for it.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Import Palm Calendar To Ko/pi 2.2.5
« on: February 18, 2006, 03:18:09 pm »
Anyone know how to do this?

I've never achieved connectivity to a PC, so I'm hoping to create a file in the Palm software, copy it to a Compact Flash, then open that with the KO / PI KOrganizer calendar application.

Thanks!

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Cf Card Not Recognized

I seemed to have fixed this by removing, then re-installing, all the software.

Never mind. . . .

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Cf Card Not Recognized
« on: January 03, 2006, 03:54:02 pm »
When I turn the machine on, it freezes at the time-set screen.  If I try to set the time, it immediately freezes and will not unfreeze even when left on for many hours.  If I hit cancel, I am taken to the tabbed icon pages.

However, it will not recognize a cf card.  When I put the card into the slot, no icon appears.

At the terminal command line, if I navigate to /mnt/cf, I can see the drive.  But if I type,

mount cf

I get a response of,

not available

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Direct Dsl Connection Via Router

actually how do you mean direct dsl connection via router?  Do you need pppoe?  If you do, then I haven't tried that.

I think so.  I'd like the browser and the OM/Pi E-mail client to work.

> I enter ip/gw/dns and everything works.

You do that at a terminal prompt?

Thanks!

Do you mean usb ethernet?  No I haven't.

CF ethernet?  Yes.  Easily.

You mean with a Compact Flash ethernet card?

If so, please define "easily" (-:

Is it plug-and-play, or can you refer me to some instructions.

Thanks!

Anyone managed to establish a direct DSL connection via a router and external Ethernet card to a Zaurus-3000?

Is this even possible?

Thanks!

I second this.  The Psion used to have a fantastic unit conversion program from, I believe, a company with a name similar to Purple Software.  I found a good one for the Zaurus called Universal Converter that kinda worked on my Zaurus C-860, but won't work at all on the C-3000.  I have yet to find one for the C-3000.

I'm new to the Z world, and one of the things that drew me to it was seeing screenshots of Zaurus Unit Convertor online.  I need this app daily.

BUT!  I'm running OZ 3.5.1 and of course I have to makecompat ZUC to use it.

Well, apparently this buggers up some floating point math or something and therefore renders ZUC unusable (none of the numbers/math works!).

So, if someone would like to make a nice little unit conversion program--with Pressure and Speed and Distance and Temperature (the ones I use the most) that would be so kind--especially Pressure (and if you want to add CFM to L/s that would be great, too!)

Thanks,
Kent!

can't figure out where to put my data files on the new machine.

I've tried copying everying on the old machine in,

/home/Zaurus/Applications/dtm
/home/Zaurus?Applications/addressbook

to

/hdd2/Applications/dtm
/hdd2/Applications/addressbook

on the new machine (after moving what was originally in these directories to backup directories).

It is my understanding that this is where the data is stored. However, the applications still will not start with my data.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Fonts are too small:

Dynamism units . . . If you are not using the translation software, you can type the following in Konsole to switch to pure English mode:

su
reconv

I tried this on the C3000, and it seems to work fine.  It didn't on the C860; I got a command not recognized error.

Is there a corresponding command for the C860?

(I got rid of too-small fonts by moving all fonts below a certain size to another directory, re-booting, and the machine worked fine with the remaining, larger fonts.  Quick-and-dirty, but it worked!)

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Transferring User Data
« on: January 10, 2005, 05:45:31 pm »
I have had a C860 for over a year, but I am still pretty much a newbe at Linux.

What are the paths for Address Book, Calendar, To Do, and Text user data in the C860 and C3000, respectively?

Since I have never achieved desktop connectivity with the C860, I was hoping to unbackup from a flast card.  The C3000 did not recognize the backup file from the C860.

Secondly, I hoped to copy files directly from the C860 to the C3000 via a flash card.

What didn't work:

/home/zaurus/Applications/dtm/*.*
/home/zaurus/Applications/address.xml

I moved both directories to the corresponding places in the C3000 (which were empty), but the applications do not open with my data.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Export Address Book to spreadsheet or csv
« on: November 18, 2004, 01:59:11 pm »
Thanks!

Can you point me to some of those utilities?

I found this, but it refers to the XML format,

http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1430

I'm not certain which ROM I'm running (the Info app is confusing), but, since there is a DTM directory, I'm assuming it's the later one.  The machine is a z860.

Thanks!

But, what is KA/Pi and where is the address book file on the Zauras?

Thanks!
