Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.1, SDL, ScummVM, XMame
« on: November 12, 2004, 08:11:12 pm »
Ello!

I fiddled with ScummVM a bit back and figured out that what you had to do was create a file '/tmp/qtembedded-zaurus/QtEmbedded-0.spec' (it complains, I think, that it dosen't exist when you launch it.) and add a line like "Transformed:Rot270:Vga:0" to it. I forget what I used exactly (I think it wipes it every restart, being the tmp folder), so you might have to change 270 to something else- try adding/subtracting 90 I think, if it's not rotated properly. You might also have to remove the word Transformed to get it to rotate properly.

Anyway, try fiddling with that and It should work. Good luck, and have fun with it! No idea what the other problems could be.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Anyone got .OGG/MP3 playing on OZ3.5.1?

I have to suspend the Z and then bring it back up before the icons are shown.
You can also use the shutdown application in the settings tab to restart Opie, which dosen't require that everything be restarted and makes the icons come up.

Also, if it dosen't show up, make sure you use ipkg-link after installing it- ipkg-link mount /mnt/card, for instance, to link apps on your SD card.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Which gcc cross-toolchain?
« on: October 06, 2004, 08:12:59 pm »
There's a gcc3 toolchain available at http://handhelds.org/download/toolchain/osx/ . Personally, I just made a symlink from /opt/cross to the mounted disk image, as it has to be on a case sensitive filesystem, which a disk image is convenient for. In addition, if you decide to try the OE system, http://openembedded.org/oe_wiki/index.php/...ildrootOnMacOSX is quite helpful. The above toolchain seems to work fine with OE.

I'm currently struggling with OE; having some problems getting qt compiled (or some tool in it's code, rather; I forget what exactly) - it fails with some errors to do with qpsprinter.cpp and stuff. Only progress I've made is, I think, you need to replace the #include of qt_X11.h with an include of <X11/Xlib.h> - or perhaps find a qt_X11.h, not sure, I'm just bumbling my way along, heh.

Good luck! Hopefully you'll get it working!

Software / Running a SWEET Nintendo emulator for CX00
« on: October 06, 2004, 07:52:45 pm »
Just a note if anyone else's trying to get a NES emulator working with OZ 3.5.1 on a SL-5500- when I tried I think it complained that libSDL didn't have some String symbol. I tried zfceu though, as mentioned by zaurusbs here, and after installing zfceu and the libSDL in that package (not sure if that was needed or not, didn't try it with just the SDL from the OZ feed, but the two seem to coincide fine) and running makecompat on it it worked great, although zfceu_gui complains. Haven't tried the sound yet, I've stuck to the flags mentioned in the readme in that package.

Good luck all you Zaurusers, and a great thanks to all who've contributed information and work to the community!

Mac Issues / Poll: Which Zaurus model do you use with your Mac?
« on: March 09, 2004, 06:35:55 pm »
Ello everyone!

After my Visor Deluxe died, I\'ve been looking around for a new PDA, and think I\'m about to get a SL-5500 unless something catastrophic happens. Looks to be an awesome community, and can\'t wait to join it in earnest! Hopefully before too many more days I\'ll be able to add my vote to this poll.
