6000 - Tosa / Does Any Distro Work On The Tosa?
« on: February 19, 2010, 04:36:11 pm »
My TOSA's gathering dust - does anybody have these anymore?

What's the most up-to-date OS I can use?

The 6000 is a good machine, I hate to see it just sit there...

OK...files have changed, thus the instructions have changed.  I have updated the tosa install wiki to reflect this.
I have been looking around and thus far have not been able to find the tosa install wiki.  Could you please direct me to where that may be?  I have checked the wiki off of www.angrstom-distribution.org and haven't found it there unless it is buried under a couple of different levels.

Thanks!

6000 - Tosa / Making Angstrom Work On Tosa

/me wishes people would actually read the news on http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/ instead of believing the FUD on this ph0rum

I read the news there, which is why I know tosa isn't being worked on.  It says "no developer is working on them".

The last image I tried was ridden with show-stopping bugs (can't suspend/resume, for example).  going to bugs.openembedded.org and searching for "tosa" shows a screen full of bugs that have been "NEW" for at least a year.

Tosa also becomes unsupported in Angstrom.

What does this mean? Is it useless to try testing unless one is a dev?

It means nobody is working on fixing tosa bugs - I've switched back to openzaurus.   As far as tosa goes, Angstrom is unusable crap and apparently always will be.

BTW- don't get on the angstrom mailing list - the unsubscribe doesn't work and I keep getting spammed with angstrom mail.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Angstrom Tosa Suspend/resume

Has the suspend/resume but been fixed in the Tosa angstrom image yet?

I can't figure out where to ask on the Angstrom site.

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / Sl6000 Service Manual
« on: January 01, 2007, 02:01:34 pm »
Yes, I was hoping for a service manual, which doesn't come on the CD that ships w/the 6K as all those other ones in this thread do.

I'm not sure if these are actually "Service" manuals, maybe "User manuals".
I'm thinking after posting this, that the original poster of THIS thread may have wanted a "Service" manual with schemetics, diagrams, "inner hardware descriptions", etc. that a "service" professional would use to repair the hardware when one of these units is sent to a repair shop.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Need Partition Scheme Before Insalling

You can do a NAND restore on the original SHarp ROM - that will restore the partitions to the original scheme.

6000 - Tosa / Can Ms Windows Mobile 2003 Be Installed On Tosa?

You would need to buy a HC-6000N then do a nand flash backup.  Though to be legal you would need to buy a Windows ce liscense first.

Hmm.  I was hoping there would have been an easier way than that.  What would they do if somebody had to reinstall or if they wanted to upgrade? I would have hoped they would supply a disk or somethign, but I can't find anything on msdn.com.

I have the MS OS licenses already with my MSDN developer subscription.

Does anyone know if there is an install out there somewhere?

6000 - Tosa / Can Ms Windows Mobile 2003 Be Installed On Tosa?

Does anyone know of a way to install Microsoft Windows Mobile on the SL6000?
This appears to be what the HC-6000N is, but it's only available in Japan.

What would it take to get this working (in English) on my Z?

I can't belive noone there is able to produce some good asm coding to speed-up this very nice emulator.....

why spend a lot of time producing a better compiler when you can trace time consuming procs and convert them to asm?!?

(a think from an old asm programmer... please be patient....)

That's what optimizing compilers are for.
I doubt hand-coding individual routines will do much.

Thanks for the links!
I'll give this a shot later on.
I'm hoping I just compile what I need and not rebuild the whole kernel.

go to pdaxrom from the pinned link to beta1 on zug. under x86? or one of the subdirs,..source?.... you will find various versions of linux.blah.blah.tar.gz grab the one for your 6k.

crosscompiling works on the pdaxrom cd... I haven't tried the vmware image.

Could somebody help me out here? I still can't find the file, and I just spent quite a bit of time downloading the wrong one.

Does anyone have a link the the kernel source for pdaXrom?
