Software / Wellenreiter- unhandledDS traffic
« on: May 10, 2004, 01:28:23 pm »
Anyone else get this error? WARNING: unhandledDS traffic!

It isn\'t consistant, Wellenreiter works most of the time but every once in awhile I will get this error and Wellenreiter will not display any APs in the area.  Just curious if anyone has seen this and possibly resolved why it occurs.

Actually, I am running OZ 3.3.6pre1 on my Zaurus 5600.  I am using it as a security tool and all the apps that I need run fine.  The only items I have left to work on is VNC server and the USB sync issue.  Other than that I have the following items installed:

SafeDee 2.0.1
dig 9.2.1
hotplug 2002_08_26-8
hping2 2.0
kismet feb.04.01-1
kismet_qt 2.0.0
libglib1.2 (Had to uninstall libglib1 to make nmap work)
libpcap0 0.7.2-1
nemesis 1.32-5
nmap 3.50-1
nmapfe 1.0-1
opera6  1.5.4
opie-wellenreiter 1.0.2-20031219
opie-sh 0.5
oz-compat 0.5 ***very important
qtrdesktop 1.2.0
tabmanager 1.3
tcpdump 3.7.2-1
wlanmon 1.7.0
zethereal 1.0

Everything works beautifully for what I need at this time, but don\'t get too comfortable Mickey .  I have high hopes for the next release of OZ

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.6pre1 on 5600, FBVNCserver install prob
« on: April 18, 2004, 07:32:14 pm »
I decided to restart from scratch by reinstalling the OZ 3.3.6pre1 ROM.  I went through the initial steps of freeing up room in root this time by moving /opt to /home, making the change in fstab and umounting /home and mounting /opt.  I have plenty of room in /root now to install fbvncserver.  I\'ve installed the compatibility libraries, then performed an installation of tabmanager followed by \"makecompat tabmanager\" on the binary, now tabmanager works.  After performing \"ipkg --force-depends install fbvncserver-sl5600_.0.9.4_arm.ipk\" the install seems to go fine as I now have my icons for VNC Server Launch and VNC Server Default.  Now what I am running into is whenever I tap on VNC Server Lauch it states that it cannot find the application \"fbvnclaunch\".  The installation of vnc* shows to be in /usr/local/bin, I also ran \"makecompat fbvnclaunch\" so it also shows up in /etc/QtPalmtop.compat/bin.  Do I need to sym link the app from /usr/bin to /usr/local/bin?  Sorry for the newb question, just trying to break free of the Sharp ROM.

I freed up space in root and cleaned out the old Sharp files from home and specified home to be used as an install point in the packages app.  I installed FBVNCserver using \"ipkg install -d home --force-depends fbvncserver-sl5600_0.9.4_arm.ipk\" and the installation seems to have went fine and installed to /home but no application icons have shown up in order to lauch the app.  I\'ve rebooted and still nothing.

fbvncserver-sl5600 shows up in the package list by doing a \"ipkg list\" but it does not show up when running the Packages app.  Furthermore, if I try to do a \"ipkg remove fbvncserver-sl5600\" it states that the package is not installed, even though \"ipkg list\" shows it.

Any suggestions?

Wow, didn\'t even know that group existed. Will this be a discussion over my head? I am a Linux newb although I have dabbed in Linux over the past 5 years, I have never used it on a day-to-day basis nor supported a business implementation of it. I have, however, become increasingly interested in it as a refreshing change from M$.

Sharp ROMs / sl5600 kernel configuration and source

sbarman,

My situation is very similar to yours, have you had any luck with getting the wireless extensions enabled?  I have tried the v1.3 kernel from ZUG download and I still get the eth0 no wireless extensions enable wheither I am connected to an AP or not.

I know this thread has been dead for awhile but I still have not found good information for this.  I have the Zynergy ROM which is based on the 1.32 Sharp ROM but I have been unable to verify if the wireless extensions have been enabled.  After running dmesg, I have exactly the same info as w4lna had posted except for the eth0 part.  If I run iwconfig it shows that no wireless extensions have been enabled on eth0.

I am using the AmbiCom WL1100C CF card and run Kismet 2.8.1 without any problems but have been unable to get Wellenreiter to work.  I have not specified the AmbiCom card in the spectrum.conf, would this make a difference?

I have tried the v1.3 Preemptive patch from ZUG download but it still shows that \"no wireless extensions\" for eth0 after connecting to my AP and running iwconfig.

Hey, a fellow Hoosier from the Southside but soon to be on the Northside. I run a Zaurus 5600 with Zynergy ROM.

Wellenreiter provides more information in the scans, namely addition machines that are contacting or connecting to the AP\'s identified.  I am trying to use the Zaurus as security product but have not had alot of luck with the newer ROM for the 5600.  I really like the Zynergy ROM but I am needing the wireless extentions enabled in order to use the tools being considered.  I suppose I can go back to the  Sharp ROM with wireless enabled, I just like the builtin apps on the Zynergy.

Unless someone has come up with a fix....?

Hello All,

I have read a number of posts, probably too many and have become confused on whether I need to enable wireless extensions in order to get this to work or not.   What I have:

Zaurus 5600 1.32
Running Zynergy ROM
Wifi AMBicom WL1100C

I have kismet running fine but after successfully installing Wellenreiter II I have no choices in the Interface tab to select which interface to capture from.

After running iwconfig it shows the eth0 has no wireless extensions, is there a way to get Wellenreiter to run without enabling wireless extensions and if not where can I retrieve the patch for the 5600?

Any information specific to the 5600 would be greatly appreciated..

Software / How to get Kismet to work on SL-5600 with Sharp Rom
« on: March 25, 2004, 02:45:18 pm »
I have the same setup and also have to use Kismet 2.8.1 with Kismet_qt 2.0 but I do not have a taskbar icon for Kismet.  Is every one having this issue also?  I start up Kismet and view the packets through the GUI but I have no icon in taskbar so if I fire up wlanmon or another util kismet loses focus and I have to jump through hoops to get it back.
