General Discussion / Network and Sync problems with Windows
« on: March 25, 2004, 04:07:10 pm »
Thanks,

I\'m using the Sharp ROM, and I\'m trying to connect to 2k prof. here at work, and xp at home.

I\'ve tried using Analog proxy to connect, by carefully following someone\'s instructions, running the network and sync dialogue and setting my IP information manually (although probably not correctly).

I followed these intructions, which didn\'t work either:
http://zaurus.kruss.com/howto-ethernet-wxp.php

and another which told me to run the network and sync on \"auto-detect\" ip information, which didn\'t work.

Every time I try it, the same thing happens, I loose all connection to my computer.  (the computer still knows it\'s plugged in though).

DATAJERK:
thanks for the info.  I read over your post.  I\'ve looked into those files myself, although I still don\'t know what they should correctly be for it to work.  To enable IP syncing, as you suggest, do I need to do anything on my pc?  Then, should I run the \"network and sync\" dialogues, or are you suggesting I just edit the files?  I understand what you said in the article, but I\'m not sure where to start.  What should my IP address be when it\'s correct?  Should I specify it, or let it auto-detect, and then change it to something else?

thanks for all your help!

p.s what is BT?

Hello,

I just got my zaurus and I love it!  I use an SL-5500. I\'m having a hard time getting it to connect to the internet through the usb port.  I can get it to sync with the computer fine.

I\'ve tried different things I\'ve found on the web, but all have produced the same result:

each time I run the network and sync program, under \"Settings,\" my connection fails with the computer (with qtopia desktop, to be able to sync and transfer files and such).  I can\'t restore it, and only by hard resetting am I able to connect again.  If I do that, it works fine again.

What\'s the trick to surfing the web with the zaurus?  Really I just want to pull files off it in a better way the qtopia will let me: be able to access the file tree, etc...  I\'m out of ideas.

-thanks!
