6000 - Tosa / Voip To Telephone Access? Recommendations?

I've played around with Stanaphone a bit with my 6k using Kphone.  Free NY area numbers and a new fax service too.

drdank,

Any tricks to getting kphone (on the Zaurus 6k) working with Stanaphone? I have registered, have money sitting in the account, but can't make outbound calls. I can call into my Zaurus by using my PSTN phone and dialing the NY number. But outbound calls always give me "unauthorized" dialog box.

TIA,

Craig...

PS. the reason I would like Stanaphone to work, is that I would like to call the PSTN from my Zaurus, FWD doesn't really let you do that (unless it is a 800 number).

I haven't tried dialing out from the Z since I haven't put $ on account, but it works the other way with incoming calls. Are you still having trouble?

Would it stand to reason that the PSP cigarette lighter adapter would work just as well too?  Toys R Us has them for $10.

6000 - Tosa / Scsi_mod Kernel Module For Usb Cdrom

Hi drdank,
I think you have a usb hotplug issue. Support for your device may be in the kernel but it is not properly recognized. To fix this you will need a new usb storage module (usb-storage.o). The process is essentially the same as compiling a new kernel. Download the 6000 kernel source. Find the file unusual_devs.h and modify with the appropriate information for your usb device. You don't have to build the entire kernel but just do a "make modules". Take the new usb-storage.o and copy to your 6000.

With the combination of manufacturer and device (from dmesg) you may find information about your usb device on www.qbik.ch. Somebody may have already gone through this exercise for this device.

Hope this helps!
Robert

I'll have to give that a shot. Thank you!

I insmod the module and it seems to load without incident.  I then plug in the drive, but it still isn't being assigned a dev.  dmesg shows the make and model of the drive, but just doesn't go as far as to assign one.  Am I missing something?  The usb modules are already loaded and working.

Software / driftnet

I couldn't be bothered to (try to) port from GTK to Qt so I compiled it as the command line version. Now I need an image viewer which is capable of doing slideshows (with variable delay preferably) using the resultant images which will be plonked in a temp directory. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've been playing around with this for a while.  For a slideshow, I"ve tried tximage and some Japanese imagemagick binaries, but I have found a quick and dirty solution in using the image program that comes on the 6k.  Just direct the driftnet output to a documents folder (I use /home/zaurus/Documents/Image_Files, for example) and refresh the folder view as often as you need. Just make sure that the thumbnail option is on.  You can also do the slideshow.

Hello

I just put together an external cdrom with an old cdrom drive and a usb enclosure.  In dmesg, all of the necessary kernel modules come up, except for scsi_mod.

Would anyone happen to already have this module compiled from the stock kernel (2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix) or know where I can find one?  Its not under the /lib/modules/... directories.

Looking back at previous posts,  I see that some have gotten USB cdrom drives going on the 6000s.  What brands are known to work?

Sharp ROMs / Netgear Ma701 + Cacko 1.22 Issues?

Hi,

Anybody else having issues with their Netgear MA701 card and cacko 1.22 (was working fine in 1.21)?

Mine is recognised fine, but won't connect to any WEP networks; and when I connect to a non-WEP network, the connection is dodgy as hell (seems to drop out; get about 90% packet loss when I try to ping the router).  Tried it on several AP's, same issues.

I plug in a PCMCIA based Prism card (senao) into a CF>PCMCIA converter and it works perfectly.

Anybody else having the same issues?

I had that same card and it was a piece of garbage.  Apparently, the antenna would have a loose connection and you'd have to wiggle the card to get a good signal.  I tossed it and bought the Ambicom card which has given me zero problems to date.

Software / Tcpdump

I installed tcpdump last night from the ZUG feed. When I go to run it from the terminal, the binary cannot be found. I looked in the Qtopia binary directories and /usr/bin to no avail.  The install must have been successful; there were no error messages and the ipk is on the uninstall list when I look at the remove option in the package management menu.

Any ideas?

Software / Opera Libraries?
« on: March 27, 2004, 12:09:19 pm »
I just reflashed my 5500 with OZ 3.2 and put on Opera 6.  All is well, except that there are blank spaces where the browser buttons ought to be.  What librarie(s) need to be installed/linked to so that these appear?
