I\'m receiving and error when attempting to sync from my XP box to my Z 5600. It says that the Z is running low on memory and to quit the application and delete and extra files. Well the problem is that there aren\'t any extra files on it. When I look at the \"info\" I get a Total Memory of 29868 kB, Used: 14976 kB, Buffers: 84 kB, Cached: 13812 kB and Free: 996 kB.

Uh...this doesn\'t seem right when I\'m not running any apps. I have a 64 MB CF card installed. Any idea on what\'s going on and how to resolve this issue? I\'d love to stick with the Zaurus but what\'s the point if I can\'t sync with either my Powerbook or my friggin\' XP box? Argh.

Sharp ROMs / SL5600 ROM compatibility question
« on: April 08, 2004, 12:28:44 pm »
I was able to connect via a SMB mount to my SL-5600 from my PowerBook. I used the USB driver available . I am not, however, able to sync using Zaurus Mac Sync. I think it\'s because my ROM is only 1.0. I\'m going to upgrade then try again. But the point being you should be able to connect to your Z from your Mac using SMB.

Mac Issues / Mounting w/ smbmount
« on: April 08, 2004, 12:12:11 pm »
I get the same error with my 5600 and my PowerBook. Try this. On your Zaurus go to Settings]PC Link]now change the connection type to USB - TCP/IP (advanced). Click OK. Now when you try to mount the Zaurus use it\'s IP instead. It should mount without a problem.

I am having trouble using Zaurus Mac Sync. It will not connect to my Z. I have installed the USB driver and followed the directions. Is it because I am running ROM Version 1.0? I am thinking about changing the Version. Any suggestions on what ROM I should use for a stock SL-5600 w/ PXA250?

Mac Issues / Poll: Which Zaurus model do you use with your Mac?
« on: April 03, 2004, 10:01:53 pm »
I\'ve been using/administering *nix (BSD, BSDi, Solaris, RH) for about 7 years now. I recently, well about 6 months ago got a 17\" Powerbook and I tell you, OS X kicks ass. It\'s basically pure BSD on the backend with a lovely UI. It\'s a fine OS. Sure it\'s pretty but behind it all it\'s got the grunt you need.

My brand new SL-5600 comes in the mail on Tuesday. Can\'t wait.

General Discussion / Need Help w/ SL-5500 & Netgear MA701
« on: April 01, 2004, 12:50:09 am »
I don\'t know what ROM I\'m running. When I look at the system info it says ROM Version: --.--   there are no version numbers.

I\'m trying to connect to my own AP. It will connect for a few seconds, bounce around a couple channels periodically then drop. The light on the card just blinks steadily. Even when it seems to connect no data is transmitted.  It cannot resolve anything.

I appreciate the help w/ this. I have a strong technical background w/ UNIX and Linux systems but the Zaurus is new to me.

Thanks

General Discussion / Need Help w/ SL-5500 & Netgear MA701

I picked up used SL-5500 w/ a Netgear MA701. I\'m pleased as punch but I\'m having a heck of a time getting it to connect to my WiFi network.

Eth0 is showing. The drivers all seem to be there but I\'ll be darned if I cannot get it to connect. Any hints, ideas would be appreciated. I feel like I\'m missing something really easy.

I also noticed that under my System Info it states ROM Version: --.--

I assume this is not good.
