Sharp ROMs / Kismet on Cacko 1.21

Can someone tell me where to find Kismet and Kismet GUI ipks that will defiantly work?

It probably already does. I\'ve found that kismet won\'t work unless I connect to some network first. It seems that eth0 (wifi) doesn\'t get initialized, so kismet can\'t connect to it. As soon as I get it up, kismet work just fine...

Either nothing happens or some fancy reactions like \"(arg: 6)\" appearing on the screen when I try to get \"ö\".

Wild guess, have you tried to play with the LC_LANG variable?

Try something like \"export LC_LANG=de_DE\" and see if that works..

5x00 Hardware / Burning odor when playing MP3s off of a CF card

Has anybody ever encountered the distinct odor of burning electonics whilst playing MP3s off of a CF card?  I was playing MP3s on my 5500 and it gives off this incredible burning odor.

I can think of two possible reasons that might have joined the forces to drive you nuts.  One is that the cards got dirty, so you don\'t have clean contact with the pins. That could provide some resistance to the electrons and might cause heating if you use a lot of I/O. The other might be that you bought noname CF cards that have been manufactured using low-quality plastics, so it isn\'t heat resistant enough. If you smell smoke only when you play MP3 files, that might be extra heat produced by your hard working CPU. You didn\'t overclock it, did you?

Oh, on the other side, there might be another reason for that. It might be that you\'re using pirated MP3 files to listen to the music you didn\'t pay for, and the smell is the reminder to stop doing it unless you want to spend eternity in one hot, smelly and smoky place!

P.S. ... listening to Milly Vannily.

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / New ZUG logo

I\'ve noticed that the middle penguin in ZUG logo has no Z for himself!
It is indeed an unhappy penguin. Since other two have their Z\'s, I\'d suggest ZUG people to give a nice clamshell model to the lonely middle penguin.

My third (not really a problem) point is the overclocking. Is it safe to overclock my zaurus to 471 MHz or is he getting too hot?

If you\'re just looking for some more raw CPU power, you can try overclocking. However, you can install sukoshi kernel as well, it will give you better performance without overclokcing... and, at the end, you can do both sukoshi and overclocking... ;-) I\'m pretty new with Zaurus, and don\'t take my word, but 471 HMz shouldn\'t be too heavy burden for the machine... Cacko ROM provides that value as the top overclocking value, so it should be safe...

Am I right in thinking the shirtpocket ROM still has 60+ MB of Japanese dictionary embeded into it?
Finally why don\'t shirtpocket start using ROMS like Maslovsky\'s?

You\'re right about Japanese dictionary in Shirtpocket\'s ROM.
I\'ve browsed trough my 860 and found them. The question is, why did they leave that dictionary, since almost everything is converted to English?

Is there some *easy* way to backup their ROM before installing other? They do provide CD with original Japanese ROM and some information on how to convert it to English, but I find this rather uneasy to use. I\'d prefer an option to dump old ROM somewhere, and then dump it back if I find the new ROM dissatisfying...

General Discussion / Which Cx00 ROM?

What is the main advantage over the original ROM? Besides the fact that other ROMs are more open...

ok, i got a c860 from shirtpocket.co.uk.

how do i get a control key?  \"cancel\" is escape.  fn+shift+ < or > give

Try with Fn button, or remap using link already posted. If you use Shirtpockets console a lot, take a look here:

http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1557

That is bitstream vera sans font, I\'ve installed it and it looks just great - small enough to get a lot of data on the screen, yet easily readable.
