Ok.  I was using the bluetooth applet, not setting it up as IRDA.  I\'ll give that a try.  Thanks!

Great work DrWowe! this make my 6000 almost perfect.  But Ethereal my network icon does not work if I have a wifi connection setup.  If I don\'t have one it will show the bluetooth connection.  Has anyone been able to get this to work?

The difference is the 6000 screens is transflective and the C\'s are transreflective.  I don\'t know remember the details on the difference, but I have had both the C860 and 6000 and I think the 6000 is better.  You really have to see both to see why.

my point was a wouldn\'t worry to much about it, unless it happens when the batter isn\'t completly dead.

I had the same issue as \"2) The 6000 can\'t start up if the battery is drained. Even when plugged in.\" with a C860.  I let the battery go completly dead, plugged it in and it wouldn\'t start up for about 10 minutes.  After the batter charged for about ten minutes it turned on.  But it would not turn on being plugged into the wall with a dead battery.

6000 - Tosa / Software for the SL-6000
« on: May 02, 2004, 01:01:40 pm »
Hey,

Someone started a similar thread, but what I am really trying to get at is of all the software out there, what is and isn\'t working for the SL-6000.  I\'ll start this out.

Works
- tkcExplorerC7xx
- kismit (with instructions from: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...the%20SL-6000L)
- BlueZ drivers (works for Ambicom card, but not the Socket revG card)
- tkcEditorC7xx

Doesn\'t Work (at least for me)
kino2 (install, but will not play video)
qkonsole 9.3 (works, but not in vga mode)
tkcVideo

Tumnus,

So does having the kernel source bring us any closer to figuring what wrong with the Socket Bluetooth 2.5G card for the SL-6000?  If there is anything else I can try please let me know.

Thanks

Just to add to this a bit, and it doesn\'t sound like you need anymore convincing.  I went from the SL6000 to the 860 and now back to the SL6000.  The screen, built in wireless, and the usability did it for me (its not real conveniant to have to hold a pda with two hands)!  Now if we could just get the socket bluetooth 2.5G card working for the 6000

Also the Ambiconm Bluetooth card works in the 6000.  The old one with the rounded black top.

maslovsky, thanks.  I tried this and still no luck.  I can ping 192.168.0.1 sucessfully, but I can\'t get anything outside of this.  Do you have any idea of something else I can check?

Well its not hassle-free, but easier than before.  The setup is the same as it is with the other cards.  But each time you turn it on (or come back from resume) you have to pull the card out, push it back in, open the network app, and then connect.  So its not hassel free, but it looks alot better not have a card sticking out

Ok.  Now I am having a problem creating a PAN to share my broadband connection and would really appreciate all of your input.  I am using the instructions on www.jens-koenen.de/index.html.  I can successfully connect to the bluetooth card on my PC, but can\'t ever get the shared Internet access to work.  Here is what I have done.

1.  Activate LAN access profile on my PC. Added attachment.
2.  Changed IP address to 192.168.129.1 for bluetooth network.  Added attachment.

At this point I can successfully ping my PC at 192.168.129.1.  But since I don\'t have Internet sharing setup I can\'t access the Internet.

3.  So now I attempt to sharing my Internet connection with my bluetooth card.  So I go to network devices, right click on my Wifi card, go to properties, click on advanced, and check Allow of users to connect through this computers network connect, and then click ok.  Once I do this it pops up a message say When Internet Connection sharing is enable, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP 192.168.0.1.  If I click ok it changes the IP I setup earler for the bluetooth card and I can no longer ping the PC or get on the Internet.  Added attachment for this too.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrongs.  Also I am using the startpan.sh and killpan.sh for the website with only the MAC changed to mine.  startpan.sh works find until step 3 and then I can ping anything.

Thanks

Yes I sent back the 6000 and got the 860.  I can get it to work on the 860, but was never able to on the 6000.
