Zaurus - pdaXrom / Firefox 0.9
« on: June 26, 2004, 12:51:51 am »
CoreyC,

I didn't even have the font package installed.  I installed it to / and restarted X and now the fonts look much better.  It's amazing to have such a powerful browser on such a small device.  It seems like the startup time for 0.9 is about half of the startup time for 0.8.

Thanks again for the build.

I believe he is talking about the fonts below.  I get the same thing.

Thanks for the great work on the ipk though.

Software / Who has been able to get Stratagus (WarCraft2) to work?
« on: June 21, 2004, 10:32:14 pm »
Charlesa,

I was running Cacko 1.21, not 1.21a or 1.21b.  You may ask on the forum if anyone has got it to work with 1.21b.  I guess you are running the libsdl from my site, there may be a newer fixed one now, but I know that the version on my site worked.  You may want to try to run it from a command line and see if you get any errors.
If I can remember correctly the command is:
stratagus -d /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/stratagus

Good Luck,

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Test results unstable feed
« on: June 18, 2004, 11:04:33 pm »
ThC you will need to install dillo-xft from the stable feed for dillo to work.  That\'s what it is complaining about.

I also had problems installing xfce, and had to install manually.  But it works great, nice window manager, only thing is you have to make all of your own app links.
I\'m currently running firefox, which is not in the unstable feed.  But I look forward to seeing 0.9 now that it\'s out, I believe it is smaller and has some performance improvements.  0.8 takes about 30 seconds to load, but once loaded works good, best browser on the zaurus, especailly full screen with tabs.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / VNC Server for PdaXrom?

Anyone know where I can find Xvnc?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / VNC Server for PdaXrom?
« on: June 13, 2004, 11:15:40 pm »
I tried the search function, but I can only find fbvnc server, which I don\'t believe works with X.   The closest I came was this thread:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...ight=vnc+server
But the the vnc package there which includes the vncserver complains about not being able to find Xvnc which is not included in the archive.
Anyone got this working on pdaXrom?

Thanks for the help,

jam58,

I\'ve written a small howto at http://trylinux.org that may help.  If not maybe you could give us a little more detail of what kind of problems your having.

Good Luck,

Qt/Qtopia / WarCraft on the Zaurus (640x480)? "FreeCraft" or &
« on: May 15, 2004, 02:37:17 pm »
Anyone got network games to work?  I tried creating a game on my laptop, then connecting with the zaurus.
Everything seemed to work just fine until the map loaded.  I could select a peon, but couldn\'t get him to move on my laptop or zaurus.

Anyone else had luck with this?

Thanks,

John

Sorry ThC, I didn\'t mean to say it wouldn\'t work with 1.21a, just that I didn\'t have 1.21a.  I believe the issue is the newer version of libsdl, try the older one.

CACkO Zaurus Qtopia ROM 1.21 Not 1.21a
libsdl_1.2.5-slzaurus20031201 older version, but seems to work
stratagus_2.0.0-1_arm.ipk Thanks lucho!

Seems like the older version of libsdl works best. Looks like joeldc13 got it working with the same version.

I also have a quick howto here.

I got WarCraft 2 working on C860, first try.
I installed stratagus package from the forum.
Added the symbolic link /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/stratagus -] /mnt/card/data.wc2
And clicked the Icon.

The games started and I played (and got my butt kicked) for a couple hours.  I did not get to finish my game because when I tried to save the game it died.  When I open it back it shows up under saved games but won\'t load.

Anyway thanks everyone for making this work.

John
