6000 - Tosa / USB HD attached to Z!

Im a bit confused - is it possible to plug a camera directly into the zaurus somehow?  I see that cable at  http://www.serialio.com/info/zaurus   allows you to plug the zaurus into a USB port - just like my camera does, but is there a way to bridge the two together without having a PC in the middle?  Would a USB hub do the trick?  Or is there way to plug the camera directly into the zaurus?

I wouldnt count on getting it that quickly..  Although Amazon is usually pretty fast at getting things shipped, it took several days before my Zaurus was actually shipped.  I ordered it on the 6th, with 1 day shipping(in retrospect, a bad decision), and didnt get it until the 19th!

6000 - Tosa / How to get started? (please help)
« on: April 20, 2004, 08:29:39 pm »
I had alot more time tonight to play, and quickly realized that the files I was attempting to install last night were not .ipk files!   I checked the CD, \'copied the terminal and file-manager application .ipk files over, and they showed right up under the package manager. Its pretty cool typing at a bash prompt on a PDA! My next step is to learn how to set up a development environment. Ive seen some links here and there on this but if anyone else has any pointers to add, let me know!

\'Neat!  Maybe I\'ll call them up and see about that as well then.   \'Jeez thanks again redbones, I usually NEVER take the time to deal with mail-in rebates - but this is really great!  \'more $$ to put towards a hefty CF card!

Im a brand new user of a Zaurus - just got it last night.  I had the same issues with installing stuff as well.  I tried copying over .ipk files to Install_Files on both the internal flash and my SD card but when I ran the package manager, nothing showed up in the list!  I\'ll try the reboot thing tonight.  Also - how do I get to a shell prompt?

I got my Zaurus 6000 tonight!  Woo hoo! I\'m letting it get a good charge right now - but I was playing with it for a good 45 mins surfing and stuff. The screen is simply AMAZING! The resolution is what does it - the physical dimensions of the screen are about what Ive seen on other PDAs but the Zaurus\' resolution blows away all Ive ever seen.  I managed to get mine live on my wireless network, WEP encrypted, and was surfing around with Opera and the display is soooo sharp. The unit \'feels\' very rugged - Im very impressed with the overall tactile quality of everything - it really feels solid!  I\'ll post more once I let it fully charge and I get a chance to play some more!
