With reference to my earlier post, I have spoken to the supplier and he assures me that only Grade 1a Cowskin is used. Veal is NOT used and I therefore apologize for this mistake and any distress caused. The anokhi.biz site will be modified shortly to reflect the use of Cowskin.

Thanks for your comments re the SL-5600. I have spoken to the manufacturers about this and there is no plan to make a case for the 5600, I\'m afraid. It\'s possible that the 5500 case would fit, but I have no way of testing it at present. A 6000 series case may be manufactured, though, and I will update you if this happens.

Best wishes

Thanks for all the posts. The customer is king and feedback is essential to that end.

Veedub. I believe that the appalling conditions you rightly condem are as a result of the lucrative market for veal as meat and that the use of their skins is very much a secondary issue - as mentioned by clivel in his post. However, I understand your arguments and appreciate your comments.

In fact, I may have caused unnecessary concern over this, as it appears that the use of Vealskin in the production of these cases was either incorrect, or they have now stopped using it. The cases are made with Cowskin (occasionally Goatskin, depending on the item in question) and I am currently in contact with my supplier, to confirm this and also to clarify the issue of the age of the cattle for you.

Wolfman. Re the SL-5600 model, you are correct in that there is no specific case available at present and that this is unlikely to change. However, I understood that the 5500 and 5600 models used the same chassis, with only the processor specifications being different? The only thing I\'m not sure about is the higher capacity battery on the 5600 seems to result in up to a 0.2\" difference in depth between the two models. Can anyone here clarify the situation, please?

Best wishes

Yes, I do some work for anokhi.biz

Offroadgeek:
Veal skin is used because it is softer and the hides generally have less damage than cow skin. Veal skin is used for the black, tan & black/tan cases. The crocodile & ostrich effect cases, plus other items - such as the cigar cases - use cow skin, though.

If you own a Zaurus SL-5500 series PDA and you\'re looking for a really top class case, check out the link below. These are the best cases I\'ve seen; handmade from soft veal skin and specially designed for the SL-5500, they are available in three colours (black, tan and black/tan combination) or special finishes (crocodile or ostrich effect cowskin). They also come in a smart presentation box, making a great gift item. Worldwide delivery is included in the price and you can place your order securely online.

You\'ll also find a number of other handmade leather items, including SmartPhone cases, Desk Phone & PDA Holders, Cigar & Cigarette holders, Wallets and much more.
