6000 - Tosa / OpenZaurus, OZ on the 6000
« on: August 24, 2004, 03:44:42 pm »
Gtreat going, Nevarrie, I have been following you in the OE IRC channel.  I will be OEing my 6K next.
Need to back out my Sharp fs into a new initrd.bin, cause dont want to loose all my stuff, when I go back and forth.   Then I am going to build a task-bootstrap, first, rather than a meta-gpe or meta-opie, cause I want to play with it in mode 3 first.  Not really interested in the GUI's...

Software / where can find libgcc_s.so.1 ?
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:57:14 am »
Running SL6000 stock ROM, which is a glibc 2.2.2 build.
Have an app which has a dependancy of libgcc and need to find
one built for a glibc 2.2.2 arm system...  Could build one if I was
home with OE, but I am away on biz.

If anyone has one, let me know.
Thanks, Hufnus

General Discussion / Changing path in .profile
« on: June 26, 2004, 04:34:00 am »
I am trying to append to the PATH for root a hierarchy that starts at :/mnt/cf/...:/mnt/cf/.. etc.
SO I modified /home/root/.profile to append the directories in /mnt/cf, however, going su
from a terminal session, does not include the new PATH???

Thanks for any suggestions.

6000 - Tosa / Opie on the 6000?
« on: May 27, 2004, 09:37:26 pm »
Mickey, I have a 6000L that I have been playing with.  Also been hanging and reading everything you guys haggle about at #oe.  Reminds me of my days at DARPA, hehe!

Latest oe building stuff fine for me.  Wondering if I could use the initrd.bin from 3.3.6-pre1 poodle, build a zaurus-pxa.conf  2.4 kernel with oe, then use updater.sh to burnit.  And have a fair chance of getting a login prompt!  Wondered if updater.sh, from poodle, would work with the 6000???

I\'d have to reconcile the lib/modules in initrd.bin, but that is easy for me since I can mount the jffs2 image fine in my devel system and update it, making sure I do not overflow it.  Then again, I could use the same poodle kernel?

That\'s all I need, cause I have my apps in 64MB CF, which I can mount at /mnt/CF

Thanks
TonyB (hufnus @ #oe)

5x00 Hardware / Can Zaurus boot from Compact Flash

Let\'s get the terminology straight here. If I say booting from CF then I mean having the kernel and rootfs on CF. Everything else is just booting \"with rootfs on CF\". The former is not possible without a better bootloader.

I have the CF booting, my mini-Slackware 2.4.25, off a pc104 Geode and was planning on using oe to port the source to the arm.  Guess I could chroot my 6000L to the rootfs on the CF, but going to look on helping with that LAB bootstrap project also.

Thanks

I read the SD slot can not be used as a boot device, but can the Compact Flash be used as a boot device?

General Discussion / how to terminate qtopia
« on: April 13, 2004, 01:58:49 am »
The statement below is correct, but not precise:
\"You have to press / when you see the countdwn. \"Wait 5..4..3..2..\" Then press a and then login.\"

The actual procedure is:

1. Click on the Qtopia screen  lower-left-hand screen icon to pull-up the menu.
2. Select \'Settings\'.
3. Select \'Shutdown\' from the new pull-down.4. Click on the \'Terminate Qtopia\' button.
5. Wait for text console and while the \"Wait  5 4 3 2 1\" countdown is in-progress
    press the \'/\' key
6. a list of available runtime levels (3-5) will be displayed.
7. Select level 3. by pressing the \'a\' key for text mode login.
8. Enter user and password at the login prompt.

Done.
