Sharp ROMs / Problem flashing ROM on 5500
« on: May 01, 2004, 05:37:24 pm »
I extracted them directly from the zip file, so the filenames are exactly correct

Ive just done a \"mkfs.vfat -F 16 /dev/hda1\" and tried again and it seems to be doing something now...

I thought I\'d used this card before, but thinkng of it, I think I formatted using my camera last time.  (Strange my camera only read FAT16...)

Thanks.

Sharp ROMs / Problem flashing ROM on 5500

I\'ve copied the two files from sl5500_cacko_beta-2.4.18.zip onto my Fuji 512MB CF card.  Which does appear to be recognised by my Z.

But when I get to \"hold C&D and press reset\" the two lights come on, but then go off again after 1 second.

Any idea what could be wrong?

I just re-found my Sl-5500 after, probably, nearly a year without using it.  I\'ve been using a Sony NX70V for a while, I\'d forgotten how \"special\" the Z is

From Swansea, I\'ve been using *nix for about 15 years, but quite superficially, not much admin stuff.

Its a shame that a lot of the old links seem to be down.   I\'m really out of touch and no idea what the best ROM is right now...
I\'ve a lot of catching up to do!

5x00 Hardware / Sony PEGA-WL-100 WLAN card in 5500?

Hi, I\'ve got a Sony PEGA WL100 WLAN card which I use with my Clie NX70V ...

I guess it was OEM\'ed by Intel ... its an Intel PRO/Wireless card underneath the fancy stickers.

Anyone know if this card will work in the 5500?

I know I\'m a bit late answering this question, but this is possible and I used this technique.........

Sony Clie Gear PEGA-WL100 or other Intel PRO/Wireless cards

Worked after installing the Socket/Symbol driver above and inserting the following into /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf or /etc/pcmcia/spectrum.conf

 card \"PRO/Wireless LAN PC Card\"
   manfid 0x0089, 0x0001
   bind \"spectrum_cs\"

the restart pcmcia services

 /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart
