C1000/3x00 Hardware / Gps That Work With C3000
« on: April 13, 2005, 02:53:29 pm »
I got a c3000 today- my serialio doesn't work on the serial port thing on bottom back of c3000. What GPS units/cables do people have working with c3000?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Serial Port On Sl-c3000
« on: April 13, 2005, 02:45:32 pm »
Confused a bit I am (My c3000 arrived today)

Can you use the port on the back of zaurus as a serial port TRIsoft says no
I think gjarboni says yes

I tried my serialIO GPS on  the c3000 serial port and the power light stayed off. On  my SL5600 power light comes on.

So is it an umpowered port?

I just want a simple GPS connection on c3000- An suggestions?

Qt/Qtopia / Qt3 development on amd64 for zaurus or alternative?
« on: May 06, 2004, 04:27:19 pm »
Hi-
Dumb Newbie that I am I asked question in wrong form

I downloaded qtopia embedded 3.3.2 untared and typed
./configure -depths 16 -embedded sharp -thread -qt-gfx-transformed -qt-imgfmt-jpeg -qt-imgfmt-png -qt-imgfmt-mng -no-cups

which sez:
WARNING: Failure to find: .moc/release-shared-mt-emb-sharp/allmoc.cpp
then  gmake sez:
/bin/sh: line 1: arm-linux-g++: command not found

If I just type ./configure then gmake seems to work but I have no idea what I\'m building.

Questions:
 1. Did I forget or omitt something?
 2. I just wan to port a couple of simple windoze C++ apps to Zaurus (I got tired of paying for crashing operating systems) is QT3 the best choice ? (i.e. what is simplist way to recompile some windoze app for zaurus?)

Thanx

Thread follows:

I have 2 amd64 boxes runing suse 9.0 64 bit linux and would like to build some ipk\'s for my just bought sl c860. I tried to build qt2.something on the amd64 side and found 64 bit library issues so I installed qt3 from suse cd and can now build qt3 apps that run on the amd64. Can some one point me to directions of how to build an ipk of these same apps as ipk\'s for the zaurus?

But zautrix was kind enough to reply with

You need a cross compiler for the sharp.
You have to download Qt3 embedded free from Trolltech.
You have to configure it with
./configure -depths 16 -embedded sharp -thread -qt-gfx-transformed -qt-imgfmt-jpeg -qt-imgfmt-png -qt-imgfmt-mng -no-cups

and compile it.

You have to remove in qtemb/mkspecs/qws/linux-sharp-g++/qmake.conf
the -fno-rtti option.

You have to make shure, Qt uses actually qtemb/mkspecs/qws/linux-sharp-g++/qmake.conf for compiling .
(I had to create a link from qtemb/mkspecs/default to that file after compile.)

You can skip compiling the Qt lib and download a compiled version from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/

Note:
When a Qt3 is in the background, you cannot get them back to see it.
Such that the app is pretty useless.
For that purpose you can write a small Qt2 program, which starts the Qt3 and make it visible again.
Example apps using this small program you can find here:

General Discussion / bigger font in terminal?

Hi greg2-
I did do a reboot while in qkonsole -  would that have left any files locked to the point I can\'t change them?

Hi Greg2-
Yes this is bobsandefur (I forgot to login again). I get it you just keep tapping and you get cycled from little  to big and  then to smaller. this works except fot qkonsole 1 when trying to change anything causes qkonsole to exit)

Accessories / Ipaq 110-240 ac adapter works on Zaurus 5600 and sl c860
« on: April 29, 2004, 09:16:59 am »
I just bought a zaurus  sl  c860 after returing a 5600 (good unit but my thumbs are to big to type on it) to replace my ipaq 3650.  I find that sharp
failed  incompataiblity big time as the ipaq ac adapter (110 -240) vac in 5vdc
out at 2amp center positive  has same size connector as the 100 vac in 5vdc 1 amp  out that  came with my sl c860.

I left it plupped in over night and the sl c860 is charged and did not explode.

How did this happen? Does sharp not know that old stuff can never work with new stuff?

Sorry  I forgot to login
2 more items:
1. How do I get back to current ROM (for $849 one would figure that not all the stuff in box woud be in Japanese but MobilePlanet could deliver next day and http://www.japan-direct.com while only $700 was out for Golden Week)

2.Rotation meant that Qkonsole was always in portrait no matter how I had screen (I want landscape for keyboard)

I returned my 5600 to amazon and brought a sl-c860 from Mobile planet which has a keyboard my big thumbs can type on. But terminal\'s largest font
is too small for my 60 year old eyes without glasses. (one other post said they learned to liive with it).

Any suggestions?
