6000 - Tosa / Wish List
« on: June 10, 2004, 11:16:10 am »
Well ignoring cost, you could get up to a 4 gig CF card, but they\'re crazy expensive (~$400ish). The largest SD is 1gb (~$250). As far as best brand, I think they\'re all roughly the same, SanDisk and VIking are some well known brands. I\'d reccomend getting any memory modules through www.dealram.com can help you get the best prices.

I\'ve looked into wired ethernet a little, and found ounly a handful of Ethernet CF cards, I wanan say they\'re like $50 or so, but the only brands I found I didn\'t recognize.

Look back in this forum for GPS info, I think a few weeks back there was a thread about that, same with Bluetooth.

I don\'t believe there are any carrying cases specifically for the 6000 yet, since it\'s so large. Myself, I keep it in a pocket now or my laptop bag.

I don\'t know if I\'ve seen a USB to serial cable, check out BlackBox.com they might have it.

And finally, the sled, there\'s mixed opinions, I currently don\'t have it, since it almost doubles the thickness, and all I\'d use is the extra battery really. I\'m holding out hope that Sharp will make a PCMCIA sled, htat would be useful.

Anywho, hope this info helps some

Sorry to seem like a complete newb here, but is there any documentation about the ROM upgrade? Like what additions/changes there are? Improved speed? stability? backwards compatibility?

Hmm, soon as I sync\'ed my Z for the first time it asked where to import data from, I told it to import from Palm Desktop and that was it. Granted all I needed to import was addresses, but still hehe.

If you tap and hold on the kismet icon you get a screen where you can set it to run as root.

Coolass,

Did you notice any caveats installing tkc-phone? I got the demo and the support libraries but having some problems getting it to work still.

Thanks!

6000 - Tosa / Little Zaurus Humor...
« on: May 27, 2004, 07:34:23 pm »
Hello folks, welp as I got to work this morning I made the horrible mistake of leaving my Zaurus on my desk unattended for about an hour. When I returned my co-workers had replaced my Zaurus with... well you can see it in the picture. For any you folks that followed the \"P-p-p-p-powerbook\" story on Slashdot, you\'ll get a kick out fo this. Soon as I saw it my first comment was \"There\'s no stylus!\" Enjoy

6000 - Tosa / Opie on the 6000?
« on: May 21, 2004, 07:10:09 pm »
Well sign me up then. I like to think I have a solid understanding of Linux and how it works, as far as programming goes, I have a foundation in perl and php and I do know some C/C++. As for time, that\'s a little more limited, but I definitly have the interest.

It could be you.

Hahah, I\'d love to, but I don\'t think my grasp of C/C++ (I\'m assuming that\'s the language it\'s written in?) is up to snuff.

Do you know who is working on OZ for the 6000? If there\'s any guess when it\'ll be done? I hate to seem demanding, just anxious to try it out on my 6000
