Again, IIRC, the 5000D has 32mb, where as the 5500 has 64mb, other than that, I don't think there is any difference.

That's quite a bit of difference, I'd send it back. And then wait until a cheap 5600 came around.

I'm shipping it back, seller says they are gonna send me the right model, so it all works out in the end.

5x00 Hardware / Nand Back Up For Sl-5600
« on: September 28, 2005, 03:49:28 pm »
I have a Sharp SL-5600 that I thought was dead... well it still might be, I'm not sure.

I found some information about getting into a Diagnostic mode on the device and was able to get it to come up in diagnostic mode or in services mode.

I've run the diagnostics there and can't seem to find anything wrong with the hardware..but it won't boot for me.  I've tried a NAND restore from a file I found online but it's still not working.  The file I used is located here: http://galacticslacker.com/downloads/SYST5600.DBK/

Has anyone had any luck restoring from this file?  The creator admits that he's never had to use it.

I am fairly certain I have a PXA250 cpu in the my sl-5600 so in theory it should work.

Anyone have a NAND file for a sl-5600 that they know has worked for recovery?  Any help would be appreciated.

The 5000d is not the same as the 5500. So yes, you had better complain to someone about that disception.

That's pretty much what I figured... I'm not getting too attached to it...most likely will be returning it.... damn ebay.

I purchased what I thought was a SL-5500 off of eBay, but when I got the unit today on the back it says SL-5000.  Is this the same thing as an SL-5000D? I can't find any references to just an SL-5000, and everything on Sharp's web site starts with SL-5500 or better... what gives?  I get ripped off?

I\'ve noticed that OZ takes up a log of space not leaving much room for anytthing else, and so I am wanting to remove some of the stuff I think I don\'t know need.

Some of the software just doesn\'t run or run very well so far...

TinyKate sorta runs, but not very well, so I removed it.
ZUC - not sure what use it was to me so I removed it.
removed all the games.

but now i\'m trying to figure out what opie-oxygen is.  It will not open for me, says it can\'t find the application.  What\'s it for?

Any other hints on applications that aren\'t necessary needed would be most welcome.  Any one known if there is a list anywhere of what each application/package is and what it\'s used for?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.5 + 5600 + Problems
« on: April 24, 2004, 04:42:03 pm »
I \'m having the same issue.  My time resets back to dec 31, 1969 after any reboot.

I\'ve played around with hwclock and used it to set the clock in hardware, but after a reboot it does the same thing and the hardware clock has been changed to dec 31, 1969... very annoying.

I have no idea of the started up process of open zaurus or opie, but i suspect there is a script some where that\'s messing this up...

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

thanks will do...any idea on the Connect plus Low Pow Wi-Fi Card from SanDisk, as of now I can\'t connect to my computer and have no memory cards (yet) I have Mac OSX 10.3.3 seems like it can\'t connect at all with the USB ethernet, and the driver for Mac osx doesn\'t work. thanks for any info

I have a SanDisk Wi-Fi card and it seems to work jus fine with both the SharpRom and OpenZaurus.  All I had to do was set up my WEP key and it was online.
