Sharp ROMs / I Want My Sharp Rom Back!
« on: February 08, 2005, 03:37:09 pm »
I have flashed, my z6000L  with oz roms and did not make a baclup.

However both flavors of OZ roms (gpe and opie) suck as they fail to do the simplest things well, such as browse the web, play movies and MP3s etc.

How can I get an original  Sharp ROM to flash my 6000 back?

I will very much appreciate any help.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Cant Link To Libraries On Cfdisk
« on: December 13, 2004, 07:02:49 am »
Yes I did that,

and it didn' t help

But Since then I found the answer to my problem:

My CFdisk was formatter as fat16 and ipkg-link cant link on this file system (although it says its does).

So I reformateed my card as ext2 and reinstalled everything. Now most of the apps are working.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Cant Link To Libraries On Cfdisk
« on: December 12, 2004, 07:53:07 pm »
I just installed opie 3.5.2 on my sl6000

I then went ahead to install a bunch of other stuff (mainly the rest of the opie app set)

I installed to my 512MB cfdisk.

The problem is that many of the apps complain they can't find their libs. Those libs are installed in /mnt/cf/usr/lib.

I edited the ld.so.conf to add the path to the libs on the cfdisk.

after that I ran ldconfig and got messages of "can't link  ... to ..."
for all the lib on that dir/

what am I doing? wrong why does ipkg lets me install to the cf and then nothing works?

Hey,

Now it makes more sense. But since you are with trolltech, do you know if they intend to address this problem or how far in the future is a fix to this problem?

thanks,

Linux Issues / Gentoo connection with kernel 2.6
« on: May 11, 2004, 06:17:39 am »
Richard,

can you synchronize using qtopia desktop?

I run the same version of gentoo as you, but qtopiadesktop won\'t recognize my Z6000.

As a matter of fact the only thing I have been able to do from My desktop was to ping the Zaurus.
Could you post how you got your USB networking with the Z to work? I have followed all the tutorials but have not succeeded so far. I have tried static IP, have tried using the  Z  DHCP server to assign the Z\'s IP but can\'t do anything useful with the link  the only thing that works is the ping.

maybe your experience will help me.

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / connecting my SL-6000 to a (Debian) linux box
« on: May 10, 2004, 07:24:04 am »
I have not had problems with USB both on mandrake and on gentoo, when it comes to storage.
As for USB networking It\'s the first time I play with it. I hope I\'ll figure it out soon.

On a different matter:  has anyone tried the Targus universal wireless keyboard with the IRK-Zaurus driver? Does it support the Targus?

My problem is that my zaurus is brand new and it does not come with a console application pre-installed. This means I can\'t do anything other than click(tap) on stuff.

Guess Ill have to take it to a windows computer to get it loaded with a minimum set of linux stuff.

Is there anyway around this?

Thanks

thanks everyone -- very helpful: used ifconfig and route and now I have it connected and can ssh and scp to it (still freezes my entire system periodically, but after all the work I cannot bring myself to go back to the 2.4.x kernel, although that may change very shortly; stubborn fool, I am.) Thanks again.

Hi i am also trying to connect to my 6000 via USB I did the if config and the route, but the zaurus didn\'t accept ssh or anything else.

did you have to do anything else to get it working?

Linux Issues / Qtopia desktop can\'t see my 6000
« on: May 09, 2004, 07:06:09 am »
Hi I am running qtopia desktop 1.7 on a gentoo system, with kernel 2.6.6 with the necessary modules enable (usbnet)
and I am having trouble connecting with my Z SL6000L.

I can see the zaurus on the USB with USBview, I can bring up usb network with:

Code: [Select]
ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.201 netmask 255.255.255.255 up

route add -host 192.168.129.201 usb0

after that I can ping the Zaurus IP but Qtopia desktop won\'tfint it.

when I start it, it says:

Trying to connect with PDA

but the this message disappears and the sync commands on the menu  are grayed out.

I checked all the setting on Qtopiadesktop (ip address, etc) and its all correct (apparently).

I cant do much from the zaurus side since the 6000 comes without a terminal application pre-installed. I need to connect to install that.

The zaurus wont accept any SSH, SFTP or FTP connection.

I am now thinking on getting the software to the zaurus via the cf card...

I don\'t want to have to go to a windoze machine just to be able to install stuf on my Zaurus...

please help!
