Zaurus - pdaXrom / Potentially stupid question

There are no stupid questions.
You cannot run desktop application on zaurus. You have to recompile them first to use ARM CPU.
Teorically you can compile everything from desktop if you have sources and most linux programs have also sources to download.
Even quite sophisticated apps like GIMP are compilated into zaurus so I think If you need something You can try to compile it.
I dont have any idea how to do this but on pdaxrom.org under downloads section you can download SDK.
If you are familiar with programming and compiling it will help you compile apps for Z. If you like me dont have idea how to do it options are : wait for somebody else , ask somebody or learn howto. I hope In future somebody could provide howto compiling for Z.

It would be great to have localizations - mainly keyboards layout (for me polish one would be wonderfull ;-))

It would be also fantastic to have ability to compile various software sources on zaurus itself.
I am complete linux-newbee but I am highly interested to give something from me to zaurus community but in that case I would be capable , probably after many mistakes to compile programs for zaurus.

yes you right. I cannot remember but I somehow run server and it was for sure without perl.

This works for me.
I am using just viewer from that package. Once Ive had VNC server running pdaxrom@760 so it was propably server from that one.
Go to directory and just type:
./vncpasswd
./vncserver

Yes You right. After your tweaking it is much more usable. But still the main drawback is the size of whole distribution - so many Mb for just browser and mail. I am using  firefox - fork of mozzila and sylphed for mail. And I am very happy. For quick browser I have dillo.

I mean, If somebody sucessfully installed compiler and can compile sources into IPK\'s in his own zaurus
please share NAND - backup of his zaurus memory made in service menu (d+m).

Yes indeed - after changing fonts to 10pts grisbi starts to be useable!

pmf - great work. Grisbi is very promising aproach to have banking program on Z.
I was playing with it and even download windows version.
The main and very serious drawback of grisbi is that buttons and descriptions are so big that there is almost no space for typing data into program.
Sometime two or more description are on top of eachother.
It is obviously because a way it would have been designed for bigger screen.
pmf - is there a file I could modify grisbi GUI?

It would be the first banking program for pdaXrom. And it have a lot of great  
functions not even mention it can export QIF.

General Discussion / Who are you and where are you from?

31y old guy from Poland. MBA in Warsaw University. I am about to finish project of restoration of 180y. old manor house outside of warsaw (www.esse.pl). I had to organize everything from scratch (there were no water, electricity, drunken guys in rooms who make fireplaces in old wooden floors. Roof was colapsing so -  very positive beginning)
It took 7 year of my life. Now I am feeling like ship ready to sail seven seas.
had 5500 now 760 with pdaxrom, 256Mb CF, WiFi Dlink 660, 128Mb SD

hmm. I have the same card and it works like a charm. Use many roms and in c760 and sl5500 it works.
It is defintely no problem with settings.
