Software / Qpphoto Low Memory Trouble
« on: August 03, 2006, 11:09:31 pm »
I'd lilke to place either (or both) qpPhoto and visualQ on a stock C1000. I can install them and they do run pretty much fine but I consistently get low memory warnings from Qtopia when I try to edit even modest size (e.g., 1.5MB) JPEG files. When I launch say qpPhoto before opening anything their is about 38MB free memory. After opening the 1.5MB image that drops to 15MB which I suppose makes sense given the file is a 3MP image. If I try to do any type of editing I get the memory warning message.

Is my only hope to crate a swapfile on an sd card using something like the qtopia-memoryapplet-cxxx?

I should have been more specific. Afer I wrote the first message I did check and I had just not seen the cseries fix was installed. Very strange.

And very irritating that somehow I completely forgot about the S key and scale. Sheesh.

Now if I can just get VisualQ to run. The package I've found so far isn't be recognized by the Z. Sigh... Always something.

Thanks.

Check in Add/Remove Software if you have opera-cseries-fix installed.
If not, you might have to install it.
I also have an SL-C1000 with the stock sharp rom, and all the icons show up for me.

In the meantime, you can just hit "S" to bring up the scale dialog.

Yah, I thought they used to be on the screen someplace, I recall them on my 5600 but they're nowhere to be seen on the C1000.

OK, this is definitely a question I hate to ask. But I am running Opera 7.30 on a C1000 with basic Sharp ROMs. I believe the C series fix is installed but am not certain (Opera does work and appear in landscape mode just fine).

But, when I click/hold the magnifying glass all I ever get is the Find dialog even though the Help says I should get the scaling slider dialog. What am I doing wrong?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Hardware Required To Record Voice In C3000
« on: March 03, 2006, 03:38:16 am »
Has anyone tried using a microphone like the Electrovoice 635A with an XLR to 3.5mm adapter with their C1000 or C3x00? I'd like to create a field recording device that would record MP3 (probably hvve to use comprec/shine).

Mac Issues / Help, Zmacsync Partial Sync Only
« on: October 19, 2005, 03:54:31 pm »
Tried copy.

The solution though not ideal (but good enough since I don't use the 5600 now) was to delete the zaurus-1 and local-1 files from the Application Support/ZmacSync directory.

No filters on the Zaurus.

ZMacSync itself said only the 4 entries were moved over too. It should have moved a couple hundred entries.

Mac Issues / Help, Zmacsync Partial Sync Only
« on: October 16, 2005, 04:16:15 pm »
I have an interesting problem. I am tyring to at least copy my addressbook to my C1000 using ZMacSync 1.5 (yes, I know about 2.0b2, but this Mac is currently only running 10.3.9 - I never got around to putting Tiger on and since my new Mac will have that on it and behere in about a week I'm not bothering now). I have a couple hundred addresses in AddressBook, but ZMacSync only copied over 4 of them. I don't know why. I can't get it to copy the remainder. This is on a C1000 that had never been synced before. Though, I had used ZMacSync on a SL-5600 in the past with good results.

Anyone got any ideas what is going on here? Thanks.

Solved my problem. Turns out I had a corrupted highscore file in /home/zaurs/.lgames/ltris.hscr Once I removed that things started to work just fine. Now I can burn battery with abandon and get absolutely nothing done.

6000 - Tosa / Solar Charging
« on: August 31, 2005, 02:20:10 pm »
Not sure which threads you should check now, besides the one cited already.

I have used an Aurora Solar Charger to charge my 5600 and it worked. I believe the C1000/3000, 6000 power is pinned out the same way, but am not 100% positive yet. But if they are there is no reason the Aurora won't work.

There are other products on (or coming) to market that look promising too. The more advanced ones will do a very good job of regulating current, but some of them also will not have adapters to charge a Z so you'll have to roll your own (I'm thinking of both Bruton and POE here).

My turn....

I tried to run LTris on my new, and still petty much un-changed (i.e., Sharp ROM) C1000 (English conversion done by Shirtpocket).

At first I installed libSDL_1.2.6cvs-1_arm.ipk and got the max application object error noted by others. Found the libSDL_1.2.6-zports-5_arm.ipk library and installed that instead and now LTris isntead spews forth with a slew of messages too numerous to write here (there must be an easier way to dump those error messages from the Z terminal - QConsole - to my desktop).

So clearly I've got incorrect libraries still, but I am not sure what to try next. My error messages look a lot like those noted by CollieWobbles in his April 12 message (page 1 of this thread), except as I said I'm using libSDL_1.2.6-zports-5_arm.ipk now. Unlike him, for me LTris never runs - launches, spews errorrs, and exits.

Any thoughts? Thaks.

Yah, that is what it comes down too: plug wiring. I'm not sure if the C1000 plug is wired the same as the SL-5600. It probably is, but I'm not willing to chance it right now.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Keyboard Mapping Trouble
« on: August 21, 2005, 04:48:09 am »
Thanks.

The problem was with keyhelper.xml. The version installed on my Z clearly has a bug in it. I found another version (from Trisoft) that works the way it should. I also see how the xml is working, so if I want I can redo it myself. This is good because I've not got much of a clue how the KeyHelperConf application works.

I'm going to have to get VNC running if I have to do a lot of fiddling about. WOrking directly on the Z in terminal (and ee or vi) is a pain. I can type a lot faster on a standard keyboard and can read my desktop screen easier too.

Once I get that all done, then I can start really having fun.

Cresho, why would I want to set my C1000 back to its Japanese original state? English is what I want, and it's what I have. I just can't seem to get a "?" out of that key. As I said in the first message.

First, sorry if this is a FAQ, but I've not found the answer yet...

OK, I'm a brand new C1000 owner. I'm fiddling around with it a bit and am running into a problem right off. The first is sort of minor in that I just want to know what they keys are for; the second is less so.

1. What do the two keys between the CTRL and "-" do?

2. The question mark (?) character isn't appearing. As I understand the mapping it should appear when I hit SHIFT-. , but I'm getting a ">" sign. FN-SHIFT-. gives me a right curly brace. The key by itself gives a period (.). Help.

3. On keys like the period key there is a character to the left of the main key. I don't know how to access that character. It doesn't seem to appear with FN or FN-SHIFT combinatins.

Ah, the joys of learning a new system that is only sold in Japan (sigh... )

Thanks for any help,

  ** Ken **

ps- English conversion of this C1000 was done by Shirtpocket if that makes a difference.
