General Discussion / Who are you and where are you from?

Angelique, Irvine California, 22, student at UC Irvine (graduating June 19!!!). Originally from Santa Rosa, CA. Hope to move back east someday...

I have an SL-5500 wih a wi-fi card, a Targus keyboard, 256 cf/16 cf/8 sd, Sharp-ROM, and a nice purse by Parcel with just enough pockets to fit all my Z accessories plus my wallet and makeup, of course (thank you Urban Outfitters!).  And T-Mobile HotSpot.

I carry my Z everywhere; and use it to take notes in class, write essays, as an MP3 player, for email, and for surfing the net. I have had bad luck with Sharp microwaves and Sharp TVs, but my Sharp Z is the best thing I have ever purchased. I wish I could afford a 6000!!!

Software / What is the best Zaurus E-mail program?

I have great luck with the default email program. It is super easy to set up, and they have a solution to large emails: you can set a size limit, and if the email exceeds the limit, the message will download without the attachment. You can retrieve the large attachment with one click if you need it. I don\'t know how the compression works, but I hold several hundred emails on my 5500. If you want, you can have your email save to an SD card or periodically move them to the SD card very easily if you have space issues.

The only downside is I have not figured out an easy way to purge many emails at once...it is an all-or-nothing thing as far as I can tell.

Software / Media player problem

I just began using my 5500 as an MP3 player, and now I\'m sad. When I open the MediaPlayer and click to \"open\" a file, the program crashes. When I finish listening to a song and the MediaPlayer automatically closes, I cannot eject the cf card because it is \"busy.\" If I listen to a song an the MediaPlayer closes, opening the MediaPlayer wiill crash my Z (although clicking on another song is no problem). My conclusion: the media player that comes with SharpROM is a peas of sheet.  :evil:

Can someone recommend a quality media player? Is tkc worth the $10? How do I get Xine on here? It seems like I have a million media players on my Linux machine...there must be a few out there for Z.

Or, maybe this is just my cf card. It\'s a 256 Mr. Flash card, and there are 240 mb of MP3s on there. Maybe this is too much for my Z? I have noticed if I reboot with the card in it takes a few minutes...literally.
