Zaurus - pdaXrom / weird backlight problem in rc5
« on: October 19, 2004, 02:05:19 pm »
I just noticed something odd today when I closed the lid of my zaurus and plugged it in to recharge. I didn't suspend it, just closed the lid so that the backlight would turn off. Which it did, however, when I plugged it in the backlight turned back on while the zaurus was still closed. The same thing happens if you close the lid while it is plugged in, and then remove the plug, leaving the lid closed.

None of this stuff seems to happen if it is suspended, but changing from power to battery or battery to power while the backlight is off for some reason will turn the backlight on, even if it's closed. I guess it's not a big deal but it could be bad if someone turned off the suspend feature and didn't notice their backlight was on all night =P

Anyone else noticing this or is it just me?

errors remain in the bash, isn't itgood enough?

I think the && means to only execute the next command if the previous one returns successfully, so it wouldn't switch the screen back if it returned an error.

Great

I needed them too .. I can't use the internet at school without a vpn client, and I need to compile a module for that.

I would be happy just to have the font I see in your screenshot.. I have some barely readable, thick,  almost cursive type of font. It is some font I've never seen before, very odd..

It's a really weird problem I guess =P

I like the performance though.

Thanks, works nicely for me except one problem (which is probably my fault)

I uninstalled 0.8 and installed 0.9  and now my nice normal looking fonts have disappeared, and have been replaced with some really ugly one, which I don't have the option to change (there is now only one choice in the list) ... Also, when running firefox from a console to check error messages i get lots of these:

Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation

Gdk-WARNING **:     ISO8859-1

Any ideas?
I have tried reinstalling the fonts package from the pdaxrom feed but that didn't do anything...

Sharp ROMs / ettercap on 1.21b

Ethereal would be nice too, can you post a link to your ipkg of it?

I think using some other tools like ethereal, hunt, and dsniff would probably be able to replace ettercap for the most part...

if you have the time, let me know if you can compile this:
http://naughty.monkey.org/~dugsong/dsniff/...niff-2.3.tar.gz
or this:
http://ftp.localareasecurity.com/pub/wiret...nt/hunt-1.5.tgz

I haven\'t tried Xqt yet, so I will go find that and give it a try..
Thanks for the help =)

It runs nicely, but doesn\'t work right still, the ips are still backwards as far as I can tell, and because of that it won\'t really get much accurate information..

Might it be a big/little endian problem?

Just out of curiosity, what do you use to cross compile for this particular rom? I want to give it a try sometime...

Thanks, I got that one to run at least, but it is a little messed up.
The ip#s are backwards and I can\'t move the cursor left or up for some reason =

I\'ve been trying to get ettercap working for a while now, tried about 4 different versions, each one is giving me this error:

ettercap: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3\' not found (required by ettercap)

Not sure what this means exactly, I\'m using the 1.21b rom btw.

Is there any workaround for this error, or could I recompile ettercap from source using a certain version of gcc? I gather by reading other posts about this error that I can\'t install the newer libc thing, and need to find a version of ettercap compiled with 2.2 or some lower version maybe?

Anyway, I\'m still learning, only had my c860 for 2 days now =P .. any tips would be appreciated =)
