I hope you get much better info than this, but I'll chip in.

Easiest way to do it would be to find out what ports the proxy lets through it
(Usually 80 and 443) and set sshd to listen on those ports.

You could also use Corkscrew to ssh through a proxy.

ssh -p 443 user@sshd.home.com

« on: November 04, 2005, 02:27:16 pm »
Wow, thanks for the kind words.
I had no idea anyone used that package.

Thanks for the work, I'll have to put 3.5.4 back on my other 5500.
Looks like my Zaural hiatus is over.

I'd be one of the 5500's adf mentioned.

And thanks for the wifi tip nomeite, Im flying out in 2 days and have a 3 hour layover in Seattle on the way back.  At least I can check my email now.

Good to see there are more than just 3 people up here working on these.

I've been kinda absent from the Zaurus scene for a couple months, but I did a lot of script working for OpenZaurus apps.

Software / Opera 7.55 Multimodal From Ibm
« on: April 11, 2005, 04:22:17 pm »
Here is an ipk I made for OZ3.5.2 for Opera 7.55

If you install it to SD, it'll do all the linking it needs and be ready to go.
It also has the CrystalSVG buttons, so it looks a little prettier.

Accessories / Some Gps Questions
« on: March 17, 2005, 05:24:00 pm »
I picked up a Garmin eTrex Legend off of Amazon for $120ish.  It comes with the serial cable (For the GPS side), and it does WAAS.  Im too far north to pickup either of the WAAS sat's, but if more get put up there, it'll work.

I've been really happy with the unit, and it is nice to have a standalone GPS if I want to take it camping and dont want my Zaurus out in the woods. It's also nice to not have a huge growth sticking out of the CF slot.

Cxx0 Hardware / Bottom Line - Charging 860 In Us

@ TRIsoft & Streamline
I hope I didnt offend you, (I really do apprecite what you do by making Zaurus's available locally for people who need a warantee).  I must have my tinfoil hat on too tight.  I dont mean to classify your services as people making money by spreading FUD, but with the U and D about frying a Zaurus w/ an incorrect charger, you can see where the F comes from, right?

These are also the people that make their money by selling you a Japanese Zaurus with a US power supply.

They do a service to the Zaurus community no doubt, but that is how they make money.

Open Embedded / Svn Checkout Of Bitbake Fails
« on: March 11, 2005, 02:20:15 pm »
I think, all packages will provide that.

The toolchain is built as part of OE's "Do Things" process, so you should get that without a problem.

I pm'ed you a link to a tarball of bitbake that I just pulled (03/10/05), in the event that svn is impeding your ability to get started.  You'll still need to do the BitKeeper stuff to get the actual package data.

Why does Wesnoth load up and say "Setting Video Mode to 1024x768x16"

If this was 640x480, would the Hotkey screen (And some of the other oversized screens) show up correctly?

Plays beautifully though, thanks for compiling it.  I noticed they have directions on how to build it in OE, though it looks like they have it setup for an Ipaq/5500 w/ a 320x240 screen.  They say that that version doesnt use Floating Point.  Is this version compiled with No Floating Point or Soft Float?

I'd imagine using Wesnoth's own "Non-Float" would make it faster than the Soft Float.  But I am usually wrong.

General Discussion / Poll: Who Has Sound Problems?
« on: March 10, 2005, 02:38:43 pm »
Thanks, those pictures were much easier to find stuff in.
The chip that sits just next to the keyboard connector is the audio chip.  Which (perhaps not coincidentally) sits just below the 9 key.

Once I get it open, I'll check for solder cracks around there.  I imagine it is a problem with the chip, and not the speaker/headphone connector as the popping is the same on both of them.

I'm sure I'll end up filling the inside of this thing with molten solder if I try it, but if I do, I'll send it to one of you guys to practice on.

I recently bought d.maddock1's 760 (Knowing about the sound problems) and it is definately something hardware based, and I think I found it.

The ribbon (Orange/brown) cable in the lower left of this picture:

[img]http://www.geocities.com/mrsquishywou/DSC02506.JPG\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]

is the cable that (I assume) carries the display and audio signals.
The cable doesnt really have a connector on it, its just a loose ribbon.
I'd imagine that it could easily work itself loose, which could explain why the audio will crackle back in if pressure is applied.

If I could figure out how to get into this thing without a hammer, I'd take a look.

My other "guess" was cracks in the solder.

Anyone had a chance to open one, and what steps did you take?
I count 7 screws, but it's catching on something.
