General Discussion / Linksys WCF11 (Type II)?
« on: July 14, 2004, 05:50:22 pm »
All,

Please let me know that your linksys WCF11 (type II) compact flash work on Zaurus SL5600. I got it work but each time the signal is outside the range, it lost the connectivity and then it can not find the network again even i come back within a range. So I have  to shutdown my zaurus SL5600. Turn on and work okay within the signal range. It seem like my zaurus sl5600  can not reestablish back to the network after it is out the range.

Please let me know you have a better idea to make it work better. At the same time, I look for  a linux driver for this CF card. Please help me out.

Thanks;

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Zynergy ROM Successfully on SL5600? ??????
« on: June 17, 2004, 10:32:14 am »
HI, I plan to flash my sl5600 using Zynergy RON. I am wondering the below procedure is a right step to flash the Zynergy ROM since I brick on of my previous SL5600.  If someone did, Is the docking Station work with windows 2000 for synchronization while SL5600 is running Zynergy RON.
Please help me out.

1. Make sure the AC power jack is connected.
2. Download the ROM image: zImage, initrd.bin, updater.sh.
If the filenames are different, change them to the above or else the zaurus will not be able to find them. The filenames are case sensitive. Note the capital I in zImage.

3.Put the ROM files in the root directory of your CF
card /mnt/cf (maybe possible with SD).
4. Turn the zaurus over and flip the battery case switch to \"Replace Battery\".
Remove the battery cover but don\'t remove the battery
5. Push the reset button on the lower right of the battery compartment
   with your stylus
6. Replace the battery cover and switch to \"Normal Operation\"
7. Flip the zaurus over and simultaneously press the \"Cancel\" and \"OK\" buttons
8. The Maintenance Screen will display. Choose \"Update\"
9. After the update, flip the zaurus over again and switch to \"Replace Battery\"
10. Open the battery compartment, dont remove the battery. Press the reset switch.
11. Close the battery compartment, switch to \"Normal Operation\"
12. Flip the zaurus over and press simultaneously the \"Cancel\" and \"OK\" buttons again.
13. The Maintenance screen comes up again. Select \"Format\"
14. The zaurus will reboot to your new Operating System.

wizzard, hi,

thanks for reponse. I try to update the ROM last time to see the difference and posibility for updating on SL5600. I fail and my previous SL5600 is shipping back to Sharp for repair. Now I have a new SL5600 just come in. If you have a method on how to update a new RON successful. I am happy to give it another try. In addition, I wonder do you have a method to update a new kernel to SL5600.  I try compile the factory kernel again with more selection of feature on manuconfiguration and update it to my SL5600. Is there a posibility.

thanks again;

Hi, I wonder is there a posibility to recompile the kernel using the original source code (the embedix source) to support IPv6 under factory setting of Zaurus SL5600. I did a cross compile and get an zImage. I wonder is there a methed on how to flash it.

I did flash it to SL5600 but it fail to boot up.

wizzard, hi Wizzard,

I wonder you have any idea on how to send the device back to Sharp. The device warranty may be void. If you know there is a way to clean this mess up or maybe Sharp can restore the OS and ship back to me. if you know someone do this before or have same problem Please let me know.

thanks

wizzard, Yes, when I put it on AC Power, the charge light glow steady. Below is the procedure I follow. After step 13 of the procedure below, my Zaurus went black on screen and I can not turn it back on from there.
