Accessories / Superb Handmade Leather Cases for Zaurus SL-5500
« on: July 07, 2004, 03:25:52 pm »
I just got Piel Frama's c860/large battery case, but the leather thickness prevents the device from closing or orienting properly in tablet mode.  They seem helpful so far, I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

You\'re also going AC3-]MP3-]MP3 for the audio with that process, right?

You really shouldn\'t be adding yet another lossy encode/decode cycle to the process... You\'re already transcoding from lossy MPEG2 to lossy MPEG4, the DivX encode doesn\'t get you anything but a longer encode time and another quality hit.

SD works for flashing, right?

I\'m gonna be using a bluetooth CF card, so I plan to use SD for storage...

General Discussion / VI: what\'s the big deal?
« on: June 13, 2004, 09:07:52 pm »
VI isn\'t about ease of use, it\'s about productivity.

If you\'re just using it as a notepad where you have to use \'i\', \'ESC\', and \':wq\', then yeah, it\'s probably not a good choice for you.   But there isn\'t much competition when it comes to moving text around without reaching for a mouse, setting up and using macros quickly, dealing with large amounts of text efficiently, doing complex search and replaces, etc., all over a low bandwidth SSH connection.

Before you bash it, give it a shot:  http://www.vi-improved.org/tutorial.php

Hey everybody.

My C860 just got here and is charging(what a screen!)... I\'d love to try out pdaXrom but I don\'t have a SD or CF card yet, so is there any way to flash it from USB?  There seems to be an option for it in the service menu, but I haven\'t seen any explanations of how that works.

Thanks.
