Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Installing Apps on OZ

I must say the whole OZ thing is quite a disappointment so far. The documnentation on their site is lacking at best, I'm hitting 404s quite a bit and about 80% of all applications I attempt to install crash instantly if they install at all.

can I go back to a german sharp rom for the 5500 if I want? where do I get that?
what is the smallest cf card I can use for flashing?
does open zaurus support german keymap?
is the handwriting recognition worse/equal/better to the standard one?
