Software / Pwmanager Can't Support Utf-8 Encoding?!
« on: May 12, 2005, 08:33:32 am »
It seems that pwmanager can't support non-latin characters! I have waited from 1.9.15 to 2.1.14, sigh!

Does anyone know any other password manager support utf-8 or other specified non-latin encoding?

Software / Lame And Mediaplayer Problem
« on: February 01, 2005, 11:38:02 pm »
The mp3 I converted it using lame can not played by mediaplayer.
It seems that lame encoder is using MPEG-2.5, and mediaplayer can only play MPEG-2.0, how to let lame encoder using MPEG-2.0?

The cmd line I used to convert:
  lame -hb 24 recording01.wav target.mp3
(recording01.wav is a result of Voice Recorder, 11,025Hz, 16Bit, mono( 176 kbps))

The rom I use should be Sharp 1.12, in SL-6000L

Software / Kde-pim/pi 1.9.14 Release
« on: December 23, 2004, 10:21:00 pm »
And It seems there are problems within OM/PI for handling Chinese characters:

I compose a new mail and input some English and Chinese characters, and send out,
it seems all OK, and the mail received in other place also display them well.
But when open the mail in sent item mailbox(in OM/PI), the Chinese characters all gone,
only English characters left.

Any advice?

EDIT:
The version I used is 1.9.15, and the machine i owned is SL-6000L(It can input and display
Chinese characters in other program such as text editor)

Does pwmanager support Chinese character?

The Chinese character I import to pwmanager can not display correctly.
And when I new a entry and input some Chinese character and click OK, it seems that they are disappeared.
The version I used is 1.9.15

BTW, except the Chinese character issue, the pwmanager is very very good and I love it at the first glance!

6000 - Tosa / Gaim

MSN on Gaim is also very tricky for me. So far I get it worked out but crashes often when I try to edit the MSN protocol setting. Anyway, the default setting just works fine and after successfully checked auto-login and saved pwd on some rare cases, I just leave it alone. Trying to check the email notification give me nightmare several times (crashes upon gaim startup). I have to uninstall everything and start from the very beginning. So I'm not going near that anymore.

GuruGeek: the default works fine for me: messenger.hotmail.com at port 1863

The following are my experiences after numorous try-n-error. Not neccesary correct as I have next to zero backgroup on Linux, but just works for me (stock sharp rom 1.12). (There shouldn't be any warning if installing by the listed order). All libs and qpe-gaim should be installed in the internal memory, otherwise MSN on gaim crashes upon startup or connecting.

zlib 1.1.2       (zlib 1.2.1 causes msn login no response)
libopie1 1.0.2
libglib
gconv-tiny
libgcrypt1
libgnutls (requires libopie1 1.0.2)
libgaim-ssl (requires libopie 1.0.2)
libgaim-protocal-msn

libpng + fix (icon display)
cd /usr/lib
ln -sf libpng.so.2.1.0.9 libpng12.so
ln -sf libpng.so.2.1.0.9 libpng12.so.0
ln -sf libpng.so.2.1.0.9 libpng12.so.0.1.2.5

libgaim
qpe-gaim (requires libgaim)
Thank you xjqian! it works now.

but it can't show Chinese character both in buddy list and in im window, also I can input Chinese character.

Any advice?

6000 - Tosa / Video playback on the 6000

THANKS!

These are great tools.

I went to install the Linux apps (avidemux and transcode) but ran into an imcompatibility issue with libvorbis0 vs. libvorbis0a.

I converted this one
640x480 fps 30.072 XVID 8323072k

down to
320x240    fps 15    DX50   mp3 56k   1972224k

Here it is if anyone needs a test... I'll leave it up for a while, but not forever
Sample Movie  (1.97mb)

It plays well in portrait and landscape, but starts to chug when scaled. I tried just converting it down to a lower fps, etc but at 640x480, but it was still choppy. I even took it down to 6fps, at which point the chop was similar to on a desktop machine.

Converting the torrent file now with same settings.

I don't know much about all these videodub options, so any advice to improve performance would be appreciated.

In the meantime, I'll keep trying different options and report back with success stories/settings.
(I'll probably keep using torrent downloads as they start out with real nice quality).
It seems the sample movie is 480X320 but not 320X240??

# file katamari_sample_for_Z_320x240.avi
katamari_sample_for_Z_320x240.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 480 x 360, 15.00 fps, video: DivX 5, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 22050 Hz)

Pwmanager also runs well and looks good. Do you consider it stable enough that we should transfer existing stuff from ZSafe or similar ?
PwManager should be stable on each plattform as long as you do not try to share  your passwordfile with PwManager on another plattform.

We have still some inter-platform compatibilitiy issues, but we are currently working on those.

Nevertheless, syncing and handling of the passwords already works. So please test, test, test...

Ah, and if you have any questions, please check the FAQ of pwmanager first.
This should answer some of your questions.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / pdaXrom on ipaq?
« on: October 28, 2004, 12:10:08 am »
Can it?

And can it dual boot with the original Pocket PC OS?

I found there are some beautiful ppc machines(such as hx4700, E830) while I just like linux.
