Just got my new C3200 and I clicked on 'reboot' in the Qtopia menu, & now it's in Japanese. How do I fix this back to English? I haven't got a backup. I am using Sharp ROM that came with the Z.

Look at /home/zaurus/Settings/locale.conf what Language is set. If not en try to change to en and reboot again.

« on: April 23, 2007, 11:35:15 am »
Hi!

The Qtopia systemfont is corresponding to the setting of the Language variable, I know. On ja it's lcfont, on en Helvetica. But what's about the other languages e.g. German de?

Sharp ROMs / Mp3: Id3 And Umlauts
« on: April 13, 2007, 02:35:51 pm »
Have solved the problem myself.

I've found a program to convert the ANSI encoded ID3 tags to UTF-16 (LE) the Sharp MusicPlayer can show perfectly.

Not sure if the same method works with Cacko
Well, the method should be the same... but the keycodes are wrong for Qtopia/Kino2.

Well, the Z is back! :-)

Because a fault of options I have started to remove the last programs I had installed. After removing zstyle-c3000 the GUI was back.

What a    shock! ;-)

Sharp ROMs / Wait... 5

Okay, If I press "/" on the "Wait... 5" sequence I can choose a console to start, nice.
But If I'm right, the boot problem is before the qpe.sh is running. So how can I fix it to start Qtopia normaly? But how can find out where the problem is?

thx

Hi!

After the last reboot my Z show the startup image after the first "Wait... 5" sequence. Instead of that I get another "Wait... 5" sequence and another too... and so on. After 10 waits there comes a little pause and the shows starts again.

How can I start the Z normaly again? Can I interrupt the boot sequence to edit the files like qpe.sh?

Sharp ROMs / Gaim
« on: April 01, 2007, 12:02:13 am »
Hi!

I have installed qpe-gaim 0.4-2cxx0-1 and all the needed libs, e.g. gconv-modules.

I can create an ICQ account and send/receive messages but only without special characters (e.g. umlauts).
If I want to send a message like "Schöne Grüße" (German, means "regards") I gent an "Unable to send message!" error.
If I receive a message like this gaim displays wrong unreadable chars.

Started from Qkonsole I can see a little more about whats wrong:
oscar: Sending Unicode IM
oscar: Error converting a unicode message: Invalid byte sequence in conversion input

Well, I dont know what I have to do. Any hints?

Frank

Sharp ROMs / Using 4gb Sd-card
« on: March 17, 2007, 06:49:36 am »
Okay, with Cresho's SD-Driver the Transcend 4GB 150x SD-Card works out of the box.

With the "Multiple partitions on a CF / SD card" HowTo I have created 2 partitions on the card. 1st 1GB ext2, 2nd 3GB FAT32.
Well, the 1st partition on mmcda1 works without problems except that mount says nothing about noatime (fstab has noatime and async for /dev/mmcda1).
2nd partition on mmcda2 works after manually mount. I have created sdcontrol2 like the HowTo says and fstab has an entry for mmcda2.

* Where is my noatime on mount for mmcda1? How can I check this?
* What I have to do for automount 2nd partition after reboot or reinsert SD-Card?

Thx and regards,
Frank

Sharp ROMs / Using 4gb Sd-card

Thx for all your answers.

So if I'm right, there is no (easy) way to use a real swap partition on sd-card with Cacko. But it make sense to create a special partition to store the swap-file.

Well, if more than one partition on a sd-card, how they are mounted?

@Antikx: I will write my experiences, of course.

Frank

Sharp ROMs / Using 4gb Sd-card
« on: March 13, 2007, 07:08:16 am »
Hi!

I have ordered a 4GB Transcend 150x SD-Card for my SL-C1000 with CackoROM 1.23 this morning. And now I want to know to use this card at best.

Make it a sense to create a special parition for swap on the sd-card?
I'd like to use the card for installing apps too, so is ext2 the right choice? Or can/should I use ext3 or others?
With dirs could/should I move (and symlink) to the card to save most space on internal flash?

Regards,
Frank
