Try changing the layout again to see if it fixes the problem. If it does then the theme can be fixed instead of the game.

I have the same problem as raybert, although using the regular Zblue theme.
I've tried several other themes with still the same issue.

everyone has his own recipe. Mine is follows:
Still using virtualDubMod, by simply asking 'decimate by 2' in video/frame rate menu item, you will get a very nice video running smoothly on Z860.
Actually removing one frame over 2, you typically get a 12.5 fps video.
The main interest is that video & audio are still synchronised after the process.

I've tested Dr. Z video and also Tkcplayer, that work fine both.
No chance with Kino2 and mplayer.
BIVX does not work, and genuine MPEG-4 required (not DIVX 5.0.5). But VirtualDub is OK to extract tracks and make conversion. You may also need e.g. winlame for translating ogg vorbis into MP3.
