You're right on both counts, it's GPE not OZ and it does have issues when you suspend it. Most everything else seems to work. I have my Dlink dcf-660w working along with Minimo and some other apps so it's not useless. Just don't suspend it

Download these two files and rename them initrd.bin and zImage then flash.

It seems to work well on my 5500 but don't blame me if it doesn't work. This is an unsupported and unofficial release so try it at your own risk.
