Software / Xastir For Zaurus
« on: July 21, 2009, 03:42:45 am »
Xastir 1.8.4 (http://www.xastir.org/) is an APRS client for X11/lesstif.I've had to compile the entire X/Qt2 development tree, ImageMagick and lesstif to make it work. The xastir ipk requires xlibs, ImageMagick, lesstif and libxml2.

See also: http://www.elsix.org/index.php?w=project&p=xastir

SharpROM feed: http://soft.vub.ac.be/~dwagelaa/download/zaurus/
Cacko feed: http://soft.vub.ac.be/~dwagelaa/download/zaurus/cacko/

Please make sure you have X/Qt up and running before you try this:

Sharp ROMs / Scummvm 0.9.0 And Libsdl

I have scummvm 0.82 and the only problem is right click, so I can't play BS. Is right click enabled in this version.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I used scummvm 0.7.0 for Cacko before, but that did not support compressed video's (Full Throttle, etc.). So I compiled 0.8.2, which works (compiles) out of the box. The 0.8.2 version already contains some Qtopia code, which maps the menu key to bring up the in-game menu. It only did not simulate right-click properly. I mapped the Ctrl key to simulate right-click:

Ipk is here:

Success on C1000 with Cacko 1.23 :-). Thanks very much!

B.t.w. the Cacko banner does not show during kernel bootup. Instead the default Tux logo shows. Guess that has something to do with the updater.sh app?

I've just added version 0.8.6c (current) of Video LAN Client to my feed as well. It is compiled with v4l support and is pretty much your command-line Swiss knife for webcam viewing/recording/streaming ;-).

Let's add some more to the mix: I've compiled video4linux and the spca5xx driver for Cacko 1.23. The spca5xx driver supports quite a lot of cameras (including my Logitech QuickCam Express). No need to do the mknod stuff manually, since that's taken care of by a /etc/hotplug/usb script. I've added the (experimental) spcaview viewer as well.

Anyway, you can try your luck. Here are the goods:
http://ssel.vub.ac.be/Members/DennisWagela...d/zaurus/cacko/

The packages are called "video4linux" and "spcaview".

Nice. Can you do a 1.4 version as well? With that version a checked out repository needs less space.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Didn't know about that, good to know... I'm currently very low on spare time, but I'll msg if I do get to it...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=164602\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

There we are: subversion 1.4.4 on Elsix:
[a href=\"http://www.elsix.org/index.php?w=project&p=subversion]http://www.elsix.org/index.php?w=project&p=subversion[/url]

It was nasty to build with the default zaurus toolchain. You'll need the following to try for yourself:
http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/sub...n-1.4.4.tar.bz2
http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/sub...s-1.4.4.tar.bz2
http://ssel.vub.ac.be/Members/DennisWagela...g-1.4.4.tar.bz2

The last file contains some scripts and instructions to make the build work...

I have some stuff lying around.. Made torrents for the following:

- Cacko ROM 1.22 + Hotfix A + MD5SUM:
http://torrents.bittorrent.com/dwagelaar/1....22.zip.torrent

- Cacko ROM 1.21 + Hotfix B + MD5SUM:
http://torrents.bittorrent.com/dwagelaar/c....21.zip.torrent
Thanks so much.  I'll be grabbing those MD5s when I get home.  BitTorrent Clients are not allowed at my work.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Um, seems the torrents don't work for some reason
I also put the files on my website by now:

I also have some RPMs for cross-compiling, but they're not Cacko-specific:
- binutils-cross-arm-2.11.2-0.i386.rpm
- gcc-cross-sa1100-2.95.2-0.i386.rpm
- glibc-arm-2.2.2-0.i386.ipk
- linux-headers-arm-sa1100-2.4.6-3.i386.rpm

I believe above are part of Sharp's provided tools (lineo.co.jp) and are already provided here:

I have no idea where I found it, T_O. I do know, though, that 0.2.5 never worked for me, and I thought that 0.2.6 might be different. Looks like the "official" releases aren't playing well with the 6000, and I'll have to go back to 0.2.4. I'm not a developer, just a dilettante, so I can't give any compiling or building help.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=147427\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Sorry for the late answer... You found that IPK on ELSI (www.elsix.org), since that's where I put them (ok, that links to my website). The reason it works directly on zaurus is that I used the zaurus toolchain to compile Corsair (Qtopia 1.5.0). I've made one update since, which is to include some hi-res icons for the VGA zauruses. I haven't taken the time to work on the code since, so the newer corsair codebase is not (yet) merged in.

Cheers,
Dennis

You must have missed the link on my post....
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=149631\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I found the link ...
I liked nite-ize the moment I found them on the web, but One problem : try to find them in Belgium !

Most of the time I carry my c3100 in a piel frama case I got from pulster. When it gets rough, I use my grindergear case (now sold as extreme gear).

Chero.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=149684\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The LowePro D-Pods-40 is what I use and is sold in Belgium at the MediaMarkt (at least at the Nieuwstraat - Brussels branch). It seems to be similar to the nite-ize, but is a bit taller (can leave WiFi card inside and still close flap comfortably). The D-Pods does make the Z a bit thicker because of the large flap and reinforced front compartment.

The package from kopsis works on the  Cacko ROM as well. I have stripped the libraries (reduced size from 3.5 MB to 1.3 MB), put them into /opt/QtPalmtop instead of /usr (don't know if that's better, it's just where I put all programs) and added a dependancy on libiconv.

The resulting packages are attached for those interested.

One small problem: If you have LANG set, it doesn't work - use "LANG=C svn" then. I guess it's a problem with missing locale stuff, perhaps someone else knows a better solution?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=103831\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yes, but it's a hack
You can comment the LANG-related code in subversion/libsvn_subr/cmdline.c
Like that svn will always work in LANG=C, ignoring any specific locale you may have set.
Since I didn't find subversion in elsix, I've gone ahead and compiled it too... At least it is in elsix now.

I don't think so. Perhaps daniel3000 managed to get it working with a fresh install? I'm still suspicious of libSDL-image and libjpeg. Perhaps things go wrong if libSDL-image is compiled on top of another version of libjpeg than the one that is installed? All I know is that the libSDL-mage_1.2.3-1 I use was built against libjpeg_6b: ldd gives the following:

Code: [Select]
$ ldd /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/libSDL_image-1.2.so.0.1.2
        libjpeg.so.62 => /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0x40021000)
        libpng12.so.0 => /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libpng12.so.0 (0x40047000)
        libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0x40483000)
        libSDL-1.2.so.0 => /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 (0x4049d000)
        libqpe.so.1 => /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libqpe.so.1 (0x404ea000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x40673000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40691000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x407ac000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x407da000)
        libcrypt.so.1 => /lib/libcrypt.so.1 (0x407e5000)

dwagelaar,

please could you test your java applications if you have some? When I install libjpeg no java application will work.

thanks,

I'm using J2ME Personal Profile, which works without problems on Cacko 1.22, which has libjpeg built in.

Sorry - the message you replied to was deleted by me shortly after i wrote it, becasue I realized that I was at this point before (see first posting) ;-)

Now I'm at the same stage (arctis2.jpg ont loadable).

libjpeg is there.
libpng too.

Could it be an SDL problem?
I have installed:

libSDL-image 1.2.5cvs1
libSDL-micer 1.2.5cvs1
libSDL-net 1.2.5cvs1
libsdl 1.2.5-slzaurus20050410

Thanks
daniel

Hmm, I checked what errors you would get if a library is missing, and it's not anything like your error. The kind of error you get is more like having a wrong version of a library and supertux only finds out if it tries to use the library for loading stuff. I've the following libraries installed:

libSDL-image_1.2.3-1
libSDL-mixer_1.2.6-zports-1

The main libSDL is already included in the Cacko 1.22 ROM. There may be problems with your version of libSDL-image. Can you try the 1.2.3-1 version? You can get it here:
[a href=\"http://ssel.vub.ac.be/Members/DennisWagelaar/download/zaurus/]http://ssel.vub.ac.be/Members/DennisWagela...ownload/zaurus/[/url]

I also found a report on getting supertux to work on the stock ROM of an SL-C3000. You could try those instructions as well:
