General Discussion / Lithium Ion Battery Extender
« on: March 19, 2005, 05:21:18 pm »
Don't buy it.
c't (in my oppinion one of germanys best computer-mags) has tested it.
There is no effect! ("Nach unseren Ergebnissen sind die Ausgaben für Batterylife-Folien also rausgeschmissenes Geld"
You can read it on page 94 of the new c't ( http://www.heise.de/ct )
This c't is not out yet, but it will be on monday (I am a subscriber and so I got it today)

1. Is this ROM compatible with Sharp ROM compatible applications? If so, How to?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=70351\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
You can use your sharp-rom programs with the compat-libs, they should work this way.
jeode for example works fine this way.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=69592\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Did you compile it or did you just download it? I think you need to download the source and compile it for the z.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Problems Installing Irk On Oz 3.5.2
« on: March 07, 2005, 10:04:38 am »

use irk*-r1 from upgrades just like zedkaduf said

or

copy /etc/SOMEWHERE/irk.conf to $HOME/Settings/ (probably - dont remember exact name/path).

I fixed that problem and then uploaded GOOD package to UPGRADES (but you refuse to use it anyway).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=69615\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I can't find something like irk*-r1 in the upgrades-feed.
zedkaduf was linking to r0 and I had the same problem, but I could ssh to my z and copy the irk.conf.
If you don't know where your home is (  ), just echo $home.

Now it "works", I "just" have to rewrite irk to fit for my keyboard...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Mplayer And Video

@everyone:

The other thing that confuses me is why mplayer insists on altering the aspect ratio anyway when playing fulscreen - if I have an avi file which I've encoded as 320x176 (due to the size on the input stream which was 960x528), why can't full screen just expand it uniformly in each direction by default so that the aspect ratio stays constant - this is what happens on Windows when I go for full screen mode.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=69238\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Maybe it's for people who have weird pixel, not squares but really flat ones...

And I think ac3 is really not what you need for your Z... except you have some psychoacoustic(?) encoders. I don't know if s.th. like this exist.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / How To Install
« on: March 02, 2005, 06:41:58 am »
No, I think vfat is just an enhancement to fat16 ( http://pclt.cis.yale.edu/pclt/BOOT/VFAT.htm ). You can use it for flashing.

If you had just fat16 without that enhancement you wouldn't be able to have long filenames.

You can also simply write ac=mad into /root/.mplayer/config

Software / Essential Z Software Megapost!

I'm using wikijserver( http://wikipedia.achterliek.de/index.php ) for reading the wikipedia.

I'm dreaming of having images for my wikipedia, but it would be to big.

BilliardZ is really great, I'm still trying to get a configuration where I dont have to move the queue after the first shot and where one team wins in the end. It's for school, where I can't really play.

And of course kapi, kopi, mplayer, konquerror (searching the static wikipedia doesn't work with opera at the moment), textmaker (bought it last week, waiting for my ir-keyboard), powermanga and xmms.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Winxp / Oz 3.5.2 / Usb / Internet
« on: February 28, 2005, 05:39:21 pm »
I just had to install the original drivers and it worked somehow. (But not really good...)
Maybe you have to configure the networksettings on your pc to get it working properly.

In the time I used my Z with xp I had to reinstall the drivers 4 or more times because winXP didn't recognize the Z anymore. Also I wasn't able to connect to my local network unless I installed a bridge between my network-card and my Z.
Then I had internet for my Z, but not for my pc, really weird...

I hope it helped you although I don't think so...

Deals and Great Z Buys / Textmaker Sale
« on: February 28, 2005, 05:30:24 pm »
You can still buy textmaker for 29€ this week. I bought it, too.

I really think it's worth the money, I even added some images (about 1mb) and it was no problem at all.

Software / Mplayer On Z5500 3.5.2
« on: February 27, 2005, 07:31:06 am »
Really? On this page I read it would be the other way round. (But that's for low bitrates, don't know if there is a big difference)

I will try to get some informations out of mplayer, using -benchmark.

whem I'm done I'll post it in "general discussion".  If somebody else has already done it: please tell me!

@MrSquishy: Now I use your script and it's pretty cool. No more command-line...

It doesn't help, I still get the same error.
Maybe I should try to connect my Z to the internet (I have a lot of time...   ) and install everything from feed.

Software / Mplayer On Z5500 3.5.2
« on: February 25, 2005, 10:00:10 am »
So, what I have installed (only the interesting things for this topic) is:
libogg0
libvorbis
libvorbisdec1
vorbis-tools
mplayer and
mplayer-doc (don't know why I installed this one...)

Maybe I have to create some conf-files? At the moment there is no conf-file at all and maybe mplayer is searching for "wrong" libs.

Oh, btw: thanks for trying to help me

Software / Mplayer On Z5500 3.5.2
« on: February 24, 2005, 12:58:58 pm »
I think it came with the cardfs-image and so I didn't install it.
But then I reinstalled it (mplayer_1.0pre3try2-r3_arm.ipk from cf, downloaded from oz-feed) and it's still the same problem.

I just again tried to reinstall it and it seemed like all depencies would have been satisfied with already installed packages.

running Ipkg-link mount /mnt/card doesn't help as well.
