Howdy !

Is it just me or is "http://www.zaurus.com/dev/" gone ?

I can't seem to login with my dev account anymore and my username isn't in the database anymore.

6000 - Tosa / Who has a 6000?
« on: September 25, 2004, 08:12:36 pm »
Got mine beginning august; it came with me to Spain on vacation; too bad they don't have too many hot spots in Barcelona and Madrid. I used it nonetheless to cary my PDFs, directions and crucial vacation data. Since I have the Z, I have less use for my thinkpad T40...Good stuff.

6000 - Tosa / 6000 boot init error, shared library, help!!

Hi,

I have a 6000, and for some reason I simply cannot fathom, when I turn it on I get

" init: error cannot find libc.so.6" and it sits there, needing a reset.

Now, this raises many questions, especially why init needs a shared library, but what I really need to know is how to recover from this. I have tried installing a new kernel that drops to the command line, but it still stops on the above error.

Is there a way of interrupting the boot process? Or perhaps booting off another partition (I have an SD card).

I am pretty desparate as I have only had this for a few weeks, and I have trolled many newsgroups , so any help would be appreciated.

 Regards.

# ls -la /sbin/init
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            7 Feb 17  2004 /sbin/init -> telinit
#

 /home/zaurus/ldd /sbin/telinit
  libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40022000)
  /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)
#

my /lib is mounted read-only; What did you do to hork your /lib directory ?

Have you tried a full reset ? Maybe your internal memory is corrupt somehow (but i doubt it).

P.S:
I only have had my Sl-6000 for a couple days..so i'm not that much knowledgeable yet.

6000 - Tosa / VPN/Minicom issues

Forgot to mention that the above works with the minicom package downloaded here:

On my SL-6000, i edited /etc/inittab and commented out:

s0:24:respawn:/sbin/getty 9600 ttyS0

I then start minicom using the following command line:

"/usr/local/bin/minicom -s -o -c on"

This is by now an alias in my .bashrc.

This allows me to poke into my serial consoles using the CE-170TS serial cable.

hope this helps,

6000 - Tosa / SL-6000L Install CD anywhere ?
« on: September 01, 2004, 05:21:55 am »
Howdy,

Seems like my install CD is corrupt somehow; I can't get the software to install on my thinkpad T40 running XP, it fails when extracting the "Readme" file; what a shame

I went to the sharp website but apparently the software proposed for the 6000:
http://www.sharpusa.com/products/TypeSoftw...086,112,00.html

links to: http://www.sharpusa.com/files/hpc_soft_installcd.exe

which is the install CD of the 5500....

Does anybody know where to get the 6000 install CD or is kind enough to zip it up and post it somewhere ?

muchos gracias !

6000 - Tosa / Sound warning when low battery ?
« on: August 31, 2004, 08:20:14 pm »
Howdy,

Using the sharp ROM, i tried to look for a way to have the Zaurus (6000L in my case) play some kind of sound when the battery gets too low but couldn't find anything.

It seems like all the power settings are set using a tool called "light-and-power". I see that apmd is there but no apmd.conf anywhere.

Anybody tried anything like this before i dive a bit deeper ?

Cheers
