Zaurus - pdaXrom / is evolution with the exchange server hooks possible?
« on: August 19, 2004, 09:44:33 pm »
hello, i'm running debian, starting from pocketworkstation.org's chroot setup. It's super. In case you don't know, debian has ARM as a supported platform, so I just "apt-get install evolution", and it just works.   I haven't tried the exchange server plugins (since I don't use an exchange server), sorry that I can't help on that front

i've managed to get my debian chroot pretty much fully functional, including non-root "native" X (in contrast, the pocketworkstation site describes setting up a framebuffer vnc). Still a few loose ends with power management; including: i don't think a lid close in my chroot causes a suspend. hopefully that's a minor issue; been too busy at work to finish up my setup.

it'd be nice if debian experimental packages had better support for ARM, but I guess that's one reason they call the packages experimental! (especially, i'd like evolution 1.5, which is only in experimental, and only compiled for x86 and ppc at the moment). Haven't gotten my cross-build up, yet. new to the game!

by the way, i have mozilla-firefox, evolution, openbox, and an aterm open simultaneously on my C860 (with 1GB SD). works fine. a bit slow, especially when writing to the SD flash.

On that (slow) note: does anyone know if the RC2 build has been compiled with the cache fully enabled, and with the preemptive patches, and with the synchronous writes *not* enabled? I'd like to get the kernel compile going myself (hence my previous message asking for the Kathrin .config!)

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin RC2 available now

hello! thanks very much for the good work on pdaxrom! I was wondering if there was a kernel .config for the kernel distributed with rc2? Also, are there guides to compiling a Kathrin-compatible kernel? thanks again.
