Zaurus - pdaXrom / External Lithium Battery?

Is there a rechargeable external battery that can be used with the Z (c760)? I would like to charge it up in my pocket. I actually already have a 4xAA external charger thingy.. but I would rather a li-ion one. I remember seeing one somewhere on here for uhh.... like camcorders and cameras that supposedly had the correct adapter for the Z? Ringing any bells for anyone?

oh, and should be noted that ls --color has always shown color and worked fine, so I am a little confused as to why vim doesn't show color under x11 (while I get color at the login shell)

Hi.. I am  using aterm in ratpoison and can't get vim to work in color syntax mode (syntax is enabled but for black and white displays, Ie... bold and underline).. aterms help is bit archaic... whats the argument to enable color in vim?

Also, whenever I come out of standby and come back to vim, if I leave it in insert mode it will paste whatevers in the clipboard into the buffer.. Is there a way to send the escape character whenever I hit the off button on the back so i don't come back in insert mode? (by modifying apm in /usr/bin)

how does one mount the zgcc-3.3.2.img from here:http://mirror1.pdaxrom.org/rc9.1/developer/ ?... I tried ZGCC but I kept getting errors and symlink fuckups with busybox.  I am not really interested in compiling Qt apps.  Just would like to learn in the console at first.  I tried the Gcc install in the stable feed but the headers didn't install correctly. AGH.  If anyone can help me get setup with a workin Gcc I would truly be grateful.

Yeah, I had to revert back to 1.05.. but was thinking about scrapping it all together and going with OZ or the cacko rom.  RC9 wasn't very stable for me at all.  Sure, its great to see a complete install of a wide range of apps and a good control panel.. but RC9 is hardly useable.  It froze at least twice a day for me.

With much regret, I am putting my c760 up on ebay after only having it a few weeks.  I don't have time to tweak this thing.. I have too many hobbies and need to slim down.  So here it is, for better or worse!

chrget: don't you have to reencode to AAC when you transfer to the player?  I mean, you can't use mp3's on an ipod right? They are converted when they go over I thought.. Fuck if I know anything anymore, someone just told me that and I am too lazy to look it up.

Yeah for the love of god don't "splash" on an ipod.  Proprietary apple format be damned in my opinion.

Really, you don't need to go through all of this crazy stuff man.  The player I own plays all the formats, has a 40GB harddrive, doesn't have to use id3 (WYSIWG mode, like winamp), and plays OGG, FLAC, WMA, WAV, MP3.

It is run by a remote and has no front LCD.  In the car this is great, you can have the remote in your hands the whole time.

Clofland: what can other roms do that pdaX can't?  I tried Cacko for about a week before switching, and I really don't see why anyone would want to stick with the Sharp rom when theres such a wealth more that can be done on pda X.  Just wondering what you see in Cacko that I may be missing.

Makes me wonder what the next  C series Z is going to be.  Imagine having an 800mhz processor and twice the ram!  I personally think Sharp should crop the entire size of the unit down to the size of the actual visible screen size that it has, condensing the distance between the keys and making it easier to type on.  That would be, insane.

Congrats on your Z.  I have c760 and can vouch that pdaX is mind bogglingly wicked.  I think they are working hard right now getting a 5x00 and 6000 version out the door.  I saw 240x320 screens a few weeks back and I am sure porting it over has its problems.

neato burrito.  I am a musician as well, and was thinking of porting a tracker to pdaX.  I haven't had the time to try it out but what aspects of the tracker are you using?  I mean, some old school trackers ran on machines that were way less powerful than the Z, so I imagine that its possible to find a tracker that runs smoothly.  Maybe even getting one of the terminal trackers configured (is there one? I know there were DOS ones.)  

Are you experiencing the performance hits in an idle state just moving around the gui? Or, are you using the general midi soundset (and how did you get the libraries for that to work), or alternatively, are you using samples/plugins? (the later I would imagine would crap out the Z)

Crazy shit, I must say.  This is the power of linux right here.  Just imagine if the Z had a little more power.  I can imagine myself working on small piano parts using a tracker and midi soundsets which really shouldn't take up that many resources.

Lemme know your experiences! I'll try it out probably in a couple of days when I get organized.
