I do not have a zaurus anymore, but I used to use doublelook to sync Outlook with Notes. It worked pretty well for basic syncing and it is not too expensive

For Sale / Wanted / Sl-3100 + All Accesories - 3 Months Old - Sold
« on: March 18, 2006, 06:42:28 pm »
THE PDA + SOME ACCESORIES WAS SOLD - REMAINING ACCESORIES IN A DIFFERENT POST. THANKS TO ALL FOR THEIR INTEREST.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Everyone!

I have an excellent deal for anyone that wants to get everything in one package. Unfortunately, I use Lotus Notes and other windows specific software that does not allow me easily to realize the SL-3100 full potential. Therefore, I need to sell it to get something else more inline with "corporate regulations and standards".

This is an almost new unit with practically everything you may need as a Zaurus owner. 3 months ago everything costed around US$900 plus shipping and handling. I would like to hear your offers for this great deal. It even contains some "hard to get items".

Details of package:

Sharp SL-3100 PDA
PDAir Leather Case and 3in1 Stylus for Zaurus + Ultraclear Screen Protector
USB Host Cable
Ambicom Wi-Fi b CF Card
Socket rev.B BT CF Card
IO Data CF XGA Card, Cable and Remote

I would pay shipping by courier to new owner, so he/she can get a tracking number and be certain the unit will arrive fast and with proper handling.

I would take payments on Paypal Only.

email me to oacuna@racsa.co.cr for further details or to otto.acuna@cr.pwc.com on business hours (as my Firm's firewall does not allow pop account access).

I am attaching a PDF with the detail of all accesories and the pictures!

« on: March 01, 2006, 04:20:55 pm »

C1000/3x00 Hardware / What Headphone With Microphone For The Cxx00?
« on: January 02, 2006, 03:38:10 am »
GadgetGuy,

I'm a bit confused, as this thread has gone into building one. Is there any headset in the market, accourding to your research, that uses the appropiate 3.5 mm plug and works out of the box with the 3100? I did get a couple of adaptors from local Radioshack and from Amazon with no luck.... probably I got a wrong connector. But leaving "building it"  aside, is there any that I could just buy?

Regards,

Otto

While looking through a Best Buy flyer I came across a PSP Headset with Speaker Phone.
(Linked to my web server... couldn't find a usuable link to Best Buy.)

http://kane.servebeer.com/pics/psp.png[/img]

It looks to be a 3.5mm jack. Anyone have an informed insight as to whether it would work?

Most probably it will not work, as the plug has 4 conductors. The Z needs a plug with 3 conductors - like on a standard telephone headset connector...

C1000/3x00 General discussions / C3100 Software
« on: January 02, 2006, 01:40:10 am »
Most should work as long as you stay close to the Sharp ROM version (including Cacko).   SL-5500 apps are written for a lesser processor and the 5XXX series uses 1/4 of the resolution the 3100 has. The 7xx apps shoud work seemlessly. With the resolution change in the 5xxx apps, once installed, if you keep pressed the icon, a menu appears.... just uncheck the "change resolution" part.

I am playing with the TKphone app in my 3100 at demo level, but I have had no problem with other applications that my previous SL-5500 came with (the previous owner got some of them and passed them to me when I got from him my first zaurus)

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Otto

Hi,

I was searching for some software for C3100 and found theKomany.com.  They have a lot of their apps written for Zaurus 5600/B500 and C7xx models.  Sorry for my igorance, but will apps written for older models work on the C3100?  If not, is there a way to make it work? thanks

Accessories / Io Data Cf Xga Adapter - Where Can I Buy In The Us
« on: December 30, 2005, 05:27:45 pm »
The last I heard was that Streamline was talking with a VGA card manufacturer to develop the software. In the meantime, for close to what you mention, Trisoft could sell you one of their IODatas (the ones they acquired at regular prices).

Otto

Seems like I was a little late to this party.  What's the current state of Zaurus VGA?

The only card I can find that is still easy to buy is the Colorgraphic Voyager VGA card.  It goes for around $150.  But there's no way I can find to make it work in a Zaurus.  Also the Margi card but it doesn't work either.

The Colorgraphic card has a bigger PCMCIA brother that does work on iPaqs, so maybe it's not that hard to adapt the driver?

Cxx0 General discussions / Keyboard With International English Keymapping
« on: December 28, 2005, 08:50:52 pm »
I need to use a keymapping that allows me to use the keyboard as is but with support for international codes. On a PC, this is usually accomplished, when using an english keyboard, by choosing international english keyboard layout. In this way I get (SHIFT+ ~) + N and get an ñ
(SHIFT + ~) + (SHIFT + N) and get an Ñ
(Shift + " ) + U and you get a ü

' + A  and you get an á

etc. In this way I use the keyboard to type english or spanish seemlessly and do not have to memorize key positions. It also supports portuguese as ã õ, etc.

How do I do this with Cacko 1.23 or with the Stock ROM.

Regards,

Otto

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom 1.23 Is Released
« on: December 13, 2005, 06:18:22 pm »
Anton,

I got the Socket rev. 2.5 CF card, and also I got a Siemens Speedstream Ethernet USB dongle. I have a couple of questions:

1.  How do I install the connection thru GPRS? The card is properly recognized, once I choose to add a BT PPP connection, I press search for the device, and an error message that can not find a DUN profile device or something like that appears. Could I get pointed to the detail instructions as to how to pair the card with my phone under Cacko 1.23 for the SLC3100 and how to configure and establish the connection?

2. Also, when I plug the USB ethernet dongle, it starts to blink (the dongle), but I dont know how to establish a connection. I tried the LAN connection, but it keeps asking for the device or the connection. I guess I am missing something. If possible, I would like also to be pointed to detailed (newbie) instructions as to how to set up the dongle Ehternet connection.

Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Regards from the Tropics,

Otto

Unfortunately, it is not. Apparently I have one of the "no compat" ones. Could you tell me if any of this cards is supported by 1.23 and if there are versioning issues (such as the Ambicom's BT2000-CF) that you are aware of?. I think the easiest fix is just to buy one that is already supported:

Belkin
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006HYL...ronics&v=glance

Billonton
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006JMMH...ronics&v=glance

Socket Communications
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ANLCQ...ronics&v=glance

Are there any other issues, strenghts, need for tweaking to set up, etc?

Thank you in advance for your input.

All of these cards are supported OOTB by Cacko ROM. Socket doesn't stick out of CF slot. There are no other noticable differences between the cards. Most modern bluetooth cards are based on CSR chipset and are almost the same...

I would like to know if the Ambicom BT card (BT2000-CF: new model, white label) is supported under the new kernel

If the "white" label card is the same as "blue" label one, then yes, it's supported.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Bluetooth
« on: December 04, 2005, 11:34:17 pm »
Rob,

I have a blue top ambicom BT2000-CF and have installed cacko 1.23 Full. Do you know if this setting is compatible with the BT2000-CF? How can I tell if the card I have is the same as the one that is working for you?

When I inserted in Cacko, I get "new serial or modem card inserted", when I go to the Dial Up BT tab in the network settings, I get after searching "No devices with DUN profile found". FInally, If I go to System Inf, at the Devices Tab, when I open the CD Slot group, I get:

product info: Ambicom_BT200C, Bluetooth_PC/CF_Card",""
manfid: 0x0279, 0x950b
function: 2 (serial)
Vcc 0.0V Vpp1 0.0V Vpp2 0.0V
3.3V 16bit PC Card [suspended]

Could you point me in the right direction? I do not have technical background, I am more a business user. What can I do? Any hints?

I've been using the Ambicom BT2000c with my Z for a while with no problems. I installed:
bluez_zaurus_2.12_2.4.20_alpha4_arm.ipk

Which I got from somewhere on these forums. I installed the bluez-csr-update ipk as well. I then had to edit /etc/bluetooth/uart since the card's name seems to have gained some underscore characters since the uart file was written. My entry looks like:
Code: [Select]
"AmbiCom_BT2000C", "Bluetooth_PC/CF_Card", "":/dev/ttyS3 bt2000c flow[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98517\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

i prefer to use qt in most cases if the application is nearly the same
because it is faster(without the use of xwindows)
but i am interested in the go you bulid for xqt

however, i must reinstall xqt cramf image first
(my Z crush recently and my need to reinstall the cramf image)
