I've decided to sell my c860, complete with:

-Box with original manuals and CDs
-1 gigabyte SD card
-Pretec 802.11b CF adapter
-Power and data cables

This thing works perfectly. I've had it since September, but due to some money concerns, I need to get rid of it. I've kept it in pristine condition. There are no screen scratches.

The CF wifi adapter will also come in its own box with manuals, PCMCIA adapter, and software. You don't need to do anything special to get it working in your Zaurus. Just plug it in and you're set!

I'm looking for $550 plus shipping from Boston, MA, USA for this. I only do Paypal.

Here's a picture:

Sharp ROMs / What would you like to see in Cacko 1.22 ROM?
« on: September 29, 2004, 02:57:23 pm »
In response to Japanese support (cross posting from another thread, and then some):

My only issue now, after doing the Japanese text upgrade, is that there's no clear way to input with Japanese text. Even if you use the onscreen selector to choose your input method, there are many times where it just won't switch to Japanese, or (on some very rare instances) English.

If there was a selectable keymapping, or an optional install package process upon flashing the rom (is this even possible?), because now since the kana keys are converted to control and alt, there's no real reliable way to go between input methods. At least for me, the on screen selector just doesn't work well. I tried fooling around with the keyhelper, and that didn't really help much, either.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Open Zaurus Doesn't Recognize mkfs.ext2?
« on: September 26, 2004, 08:54:32 pm »
So I need to format my SD card to ext2, but when I type "mkfs.ext /dev/mmcda1" in the terminal, it claims that it has no idea what mkfs.ext2 is. I ran a search for it, and it doesn't seem to be installed on the system.

I'm running the latest OZ on a c860. I just installed.

Any help?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin RC3 ready..
« on: September 26, 2004, 04:00:02 pm »
Is there any chance to feature builtin support for Japanese input? im-ja isn't really working too well on RC3 for me, despite multiple variations on the installation. X is a great thing, but I don't really care much for it if I don't have international support. :/

Thanks so much for your help so far, though! This does work really nice.

Please add Japanese text input/output support. I'd much rather do this than have to twiddle around after the install.

Sharp ROMs / Total Beginner, Need Help with Cacko
« on: September 19, 2004, 02:11:22 pm »
So I'm going to be receiving my Zaurus 860 this week, and right now I'm "shopping around" for the right ROM for me.

Here's what I'm looking for:

-Japanese text input/output support
-Support for syncing with a Mac running OS X
-Support for CF USB Host adapters
-Some way to run X11 apps

I also have some questions, and they're going to be stupid, but I'm really wanting to learn:

-I'm assuming that when I choose and install a ROM, this will limit what IPKs I can run on my Zaurus, correct? If so, what are the best places for each ROM that I can grab IPKs from?

-I've heard that the Cacko Qtopia ROM allows for Japanese text input/output after a little bit of tweaking. Is this true?

-If I run a ROM like Cacko Qtopia or Sharp ROM, can I set up an X11 server anyway, so that I can run my X11 programs?

-Let's say, hypothetically, that I'm running the Cacko Qtopia ROM on my Zaurus (if you couldn't tell, this is what I'm leaning towards a.t.m.). However, I want to install and run a program that's meant for the Sharp ROM. Do I need to do anything special?

-Let's say again, hypothetically, that I'm running the Cacko Qtopia ROM on my Zaurus. Now I want to install and run a program that's built for the pdaX11 ROM. Is this possible? Can I just DL and run without any modification, or do I need to recompile it? Or, could I run it by just using X11? If I need to recompile, is it just a question of recompiling, or is it a question of modifying the code?

Any suggestions for which ROM I should use, and any answers to my other questions would be a huge help. I'm running OS X right now, so I have some basic *NIX understandings, but beyond that I'm not really familiar with it. Along with that, I'm pretty much new to the idea of dealing with multiple distributions and what I need to do to make a program work on one or the other.

Thanks!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Emulation & pdaxrom
« on: September 19, 2004, 01:33:29 pm »
Hate to be practicing forum necromancy here, but I want to let it be known that these joysticks for the zaurus are apparently not able to accept simultaneous input. That one homebrew japanese site (I forget the URL) pretty much said it at the bottom, and claimed it was fine for him since he only wanted to play NES rpgs. I'm pretty sure this joystick listed here is the same deal.

Any luck with USB host cf adapters?
