Cxx0 General discussions / Battery Life

Hmm, just tried this again and the battery's going down quicker this time; maybe the battery applet was just lying to me (what do others here get if they do simular things?).  Still, I'm happy with the battery life, even when using the Z normally.
common, you need to just let it run totally out, from full capacity to completely dead.  only way to really test it for sure.  it's only for one day right?   =)

Maybe $150 wholesale or reseller cost, but I seriously doubt that is the target consumer retail price...

General Discussion / Which game emulators on which ROMs
« on: October 12, 2004, 02:04:25 am »
I'd like to run both MAME and NES emulators on my C860 running the latest Cacko.  Will both of these work with my current setup?  In this thread I'd like to compile a list of current emulators and which ROMs are supported, with some feedback on performance for each.

Thanks.

Cxx0 General discussions / Carrying case for the C860
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:21:26 pm »
I just picked up a Body Glove universal neoprene case on clearance at CompUSA for $12.99.  It's a nice lightweight, low profile zippered case with internal pockets and padded runners under the zipper to protect the sides.  Fits my C860 perfectly!

I don't think it's being made anymore, but here is a pic with model info:

General Discussion / Bluetooth - what is the better way
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:05:33 pm »
I just picked up a C860, installed the latest Cacko ROM and patch, popped in my Socket BT CF card (Rev G) and it just worked.  Fits flush and pairs beautifully with my Sony Ericsson T608 for internet access =)

I for one am getting tired of converting my movies into zaurus user format. So I propose this. We adopt a certain p2p client prefix the name of our zaurus movies with (zaurusmovie) and then if we want to watch a movie that we legitamally? own and don't want the hassle of conversion its only a case of simple p2p....or if you prefer torrent.

Obviously this is open to abuse but hey......

how about " Ares " ?

ps please don't ban me.

I think a bettter and safer idea is to simply see if anyone knows of a ONE-STEP solution to coverting a DVD to an AVI (5500) or .WMV (CX00).

Converting movies  would be no big deal if there was just a process like:

1) Drop DVD (gently ) into DVD player.
2) Run program XYZ (That may need to be configured once).
3) Come back 4 hours later and an AVI or WMV file is waiting for you.

Optional 4) Configurable to handle a LIST of DVD so when done the DVD drawer is open and waiting for the next movie.  You take out the DVD and goto step 1.

Anybody got the process down to this simplicity?  I heard Gordian Knot was supposed to be a one-stop solution though i have never tried it.

Can Zaurus decode DivX?  I've used Dr.DivX and it works well as a one step solution, but I haven't researched what types of movies the Z can handle (I'm running latest Cacko).

Looks like this is basically another Muvo2 deal except its a newer and larger drive.  I would assume this works with the Z?

I'm a little confused as to why they would release the product the same way the Muvo2 was, basically with a removable reusable microdrive that retails by itself for much more.  Of course we all know that Creative quickly crippled the drive in the next version of the product, why would Rio make the same "mistake"?  Is it likely they will end up crippling the drive in the near future?

Also, does anyone know how the Seagate performs against the Hitachi?

Deals and Great Z Buys / 6000W for $682

Didn't look into the shipping charges but that seems reasonable considering you can't find em anywhere else, and I believe these guys are pretty reputable.  Only thing is they say it will take a couple weeks to get to you probably because they go through Amazon JP?

I am considering buying a brand new C860 from them for only $530 shipped which seems like a great deal.  The 6000W is extremely tempting tho!

Linux Issues / CONFIG_USB_ACM
« on: September 21, 2004, 04:03:38 pm »
does the Zaurus kernel support USB ACM devices?  i'm reading a page that describes how to enable this in the standard Linux kernel to be able to connect to a cell phone for dialup via USB connection.  i'm guessing this would only apply to the 6000 model which has USB hosting capability.

here is the article:

thanks.

6000 - Tosa / USB connect to Sprint Vision Phone
« on: September 20, 2004, 08:05:23 pm »
Is this possible?  I currently connect my WinXP laptop to my Vision phone via a USB cable and get internet access, and I would think that since the 6000 has USB host capability it should be able to do the same with the proper driver.  Any info on this?

Thanks.
