6000 - Tosa / AOL email via IMAP4 on 6KL QTmail 2.1
« on: November 15, 2004, 07:57:24 pm »
Okay ... after a weeks worth of emails with Sharp and AOL , I've given up.
It appears that the QTmail 2.1 is performing a search query for new emails to compare to ones already downloaded and this search function isn't support on AOL's IMAP implementation.  Consequently, I'm not able to pull down any emails.

Does anyone know a good email program that run on the 6000L in QVGA mode with IMAP support?

6000 - Tosa / AOL email via IMAP4 on 6KL QTmail 2.1

Hello,

I am trying to setup my 6000L to pull down my AOL email over the Internet using AOL's Open Mail Access setup, which requires IMAP.

I was able to setup QTmail 2.1 (standard mail app on 6K) to send out an email through my AOL account but I can't pull down my email. QTmail is able to connect and authenticate and even pull down the AOL folder structure but just when it is about to pull down the mail, it comes back with the following error messages:

a004 NO Command 'SEARCH' not supported

a006 NO Command 'SEARCH' not supported

a008 NO Command 'SEARCH' not supported

a010 NO Command 'SEARCH' not supported

a012 NO Command 'SEARCH' not supported

Does anyone know what this means?
Is there a way to get QTmail 2.1 to pull AOL mail via IMAP?
If not, can anyone recommend a mail app with IMAP support that might work?

Thanks

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / intellisynch and OZ 3.5.1
« on: October 13, 2004, 11:52:12 am »
First thank you everyone for the info in this thread, it has helped me a lot. I'm running OZ 3.5.1 with OPIE 1.1.6 on a SL5600 with Intellisync 1.43E installed on my PC.

I am trying to synch my 5600 to a WinXP Pro Box with Outlook 2003, using intellisync. I've followed the instructions in this thread and gotten to the point where there is communication between the Z and my COmputer for Synch'ing. The process seems to start but then abrumptly stalls leaving me with an error dialog on my computer:

"You must configure SL connection information prior to selecting this function."

I've tried sync'ing with both Intellisync and Qtopia 1.7 selected on the Z but the same dialog box comes up.

The one problem i have which i wonder if its the cuase  is on the XP computer. When I try to select the synch translators within Intellisync 'sync. options' I am not able to select Outlook (vs Palm desktop) becuase when I do, the intellisynch diaglog box wont let me browse to find the Outlook data folders where the Outlook PIM info is. The outlook folder displays in the dialog box but when I select it or try to drill down nothing happens so I am left with no choice but to cancel out without setting the Outlook translator in intellisync.

Does anyone have any good ideas on where I should focus my troubleshooting? I'm a bit stumped right now.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Outlook 2003 Sync'ing / no known support

Hello,

I got Intellisync 1.43E to partially work thanks to the great work found here

This thread

I'm running XP Pro w/sp2 and Outlook 2003 .... Sync'ing doesn't seem to work with my SL 5600 running OZ 1.5.1/OPIE 1.1.6 .

I called Sharp and according to them none of the versions of Intellisync , even the one for the SL-6000 do not work with Outlook 2003.

Has anyone gotten  to sync with Outlook 2003 on XP?

Unfortunatly, XP/Office 2003 is the standard for my work notebook... man looks like i may be hosed...

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / installing packages
« on: October 04, 2004, 01:23:29 pm »
thank you for the help ... not sure though if I completly follow ...

This is what I tried

from the OZ updated packages list here
I downloaded the packages including the  packages.filelist  file.
ALl were placed on a CF card.

I then opened up the Package manager and selected Actions-->COnfigure
then on the servers TAB i added a new one. for the address i placed file:///mnt/cf

Now that I have probably therougly embaressed myself with how little I know... am i on the right track? If so , that didn't work for me.

what is the command to place in the command like to install a package ... also could anyone point me to a link on common commands I could use/learn ... im a real begining here but eager to learn.
thx

forgive me if this is a real noob question ... but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get .ipk's installed on my Z.  I've installed them fine under other ROMs.

I'm running OZ 3.5.1 / OPIE 1.1.6 on an SL5600

I have the ipk's on a CF card which is readable via file manager (one that comes with OPIE).

Two methods i've tried
#1 I've launched the package manager, but it would only show all packages installed. It didn't seem the detect the packes on the CF card and of course nothing was displayed when I selected 'show uninstalled packages' from the menu.

#2 in File manager I selected then held on the package i wanted to install to bring up the meny for the package and I would then select 'Open in Package Manage' but I could never find it in the list once pacakge manager opened. I tried the search key and the display uninstalled packages.

I've tried re-installing the ROM, rebooting, restarting OPIE. The packages I am trying to install are definitly not installed yet. THey are Japanese language support in addition to the recent release of the updates for Openzaurus.

Am I missing something or do I have a bug with my Z?

Hello....

Does anyone have a link on a good step by step 'How To' on setting up a
SL5600 with OZ 3.5.1 / Opie 1.1.6 / Windows 2000 to synch with Outlook via Intellisych?

I've tried everything I've read in the forums and just can't get it to work any which way.

Any help or links would greatly be appreciated.

thanks
