OpenBSD / Openbsd On Whole Disk Sl-c3000
« on: October 25, 2007, 01:09:37 pm »
Folks,

The link at http://zaurus.daemons.gr/openbsd/ appears to be not responding.  Does anyone have this material on another URL?  I'm prepping for an upgrade to 4.2 and want o blow away Linux.

Thanks

Barry has it 100% right.  OpenBSD is by geeks for geeks.  If you want a pretty GUI environment with easy to use applications, stick with Linux.

If you want to challenge yourself by learning a powerful OS and want a more flexible developer-centric environment than the Linux distro that comes with the Zaurus, then OpenBSD is for you.

It's an extremely powerful OS if you are willing to learn.  For example, I wrote a script that sets up the Zaurus as a portable wireless access point with firewalling, network address translation and a DHCP server.  It works well when I travel and it was a great learning experience.

Cheers,

Patrick
