6000 - Tosa / Weak Antenna On 6k Internal Wireless?

sound faulty to me - me SL6000 get much better recpetion than my 5500 ever did with it's (admitedly cheap & nasty) Origo cf wifi card...
I agree that you might have a bad z.  I don't have any problems with the wifi from my 6K.  In fact, it connects in places that my laptop won't.  Don't have another z to compare it to though.

When i start icewm  no desktop appears but there is only rxvt terminal ...

Why there isn't no desktop icons ??? I see in the screenshots there is icewm desktop but on my sl6000l i can only see rxvt terminal

I FOLLOW THE INFOS ON SMULEAS SITE and on thi topic too why this ??

Thanks FOR YOUR HELP

Gabriele
I am having the same proble.  I can get the x session to start and the terminal to open, but when I start icewm I get the rxvt terminal with the scrollbars but no menues or background or anything.

I think I must be missing something, but I'm not sure what.  I've done an apt-get install icewm which has not fixed it.  Anyone have any ideas?

6000 - Tosa / Video playback on the 6000

Thanks for the steps, Siliconbug.  I followed your steps and they have got me closer, but I am still having problems.

First,
Quote
Edit /home/QtPalmtop/etc/mplayer/o.conf, and modify
# monitoraspect=4:3
# monitoraspect=16:9
monitoraspect=3:4
to
monitoraspect=4:3
# monitoraspect=16:9
# monitoraspect=3:4
I did not find o.conf, but found those lines in mplayer.conf and changes it there.  Is that incorrect?  Should I have the o.conf file?

The clip I am trying is one I downloaded and file info tells me it is 320x240, 14.985 fps, and MP42 codec.  When I play it per your instructions it plays in a fullscreen window but it is still very small and in the lower left corner.  If I use View/Scale and then play it it is fullscreen but VERY choppy.

Any ideas on this?

6000 - Tosa / GPS and the 6000L
« on: November 06, 2004, 09:27:45 am »
I am using an ambicom cf-gps with qpegps on my sl6000 and it works great.  Haven't tried zgps.

Quote
Plug it in, see the serial port in dmesg

start gpsd -p /dev/ttyS3 -s 4800
telnet localhost 2947
hit r

Not sure if it is required in your case, but when I start gpsd from the command line I first have to issue a 'cardctl resume' to get the gps to power on and see the blue status light.  But if you are seeing lots of messages when you telnet in then you probably are catching that step somewhere.

6000 - Tosa / Checking account program

Have you tried to set up that link as a package feed? That should solve the dependency issues.  To do that click on the Add/Remove  Software icon and then click the Install via networks button.  Click the switch icon which should bring up your network feeds.  Make a new one with that link and name it whatever you want.  Then select that new feed from the list and click the ok button to close that window.  Now you should see all the packages available on the feed.  Select the one you want and then click the ? icon.  Then click install which takes you back to the list where you can click ok.  The package should be downloaded and installed, with any dependencies.  (Make sure you uninstall the one that failed first, if you can).

Hope this helps.

I have opie-checkbook installed from the SharpROM feed at opie.handhelds.org.  Here is a link to the index where you can get it http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/stable/sharprom/

6000 - Tosa / GPS and the 6000L

I just got an ambicom cf gps for my sl-6000.   Not sure of the differences between units, but I had to issue the command 'cardctl resume' from a terminal to get the gps to power on.  From what I understand, the Z automatically puts the CF gps in suspend mode, and the resume command wakes it up.  Once I had it resumed the lights on the gps came on and all worked fine.

I have th QPE alarm clock working on my 6K.  Only oddity with it is that the alarm seems to only work when  the "Display with magnified screen" ckeckbox is empty.

I was able to install prboom and get it to start, but I never got any of the controls to work... would get sound and display but then it wouldn't react to any keys, and I had to do a reset to get out of it.  I'm still trying to get it to work though.  I have also installed znester, but haven't tried it out on any games (I still don't have any CF or SD storage so I'm just going off system flash.

As for the memory, I think the 6k has 64mg NAND so battery loss doesn't matter.  But thats just my understanding of it.  I'm kinda new to the Z scene and am still learning.

I do have Kismet working fine.  I followed the steps in the How-To section.  There are steps specific to the sl-6000... mabye that would work for your c860??

I use stupkid's feed at http://www.bryandeluca.com/feed for ipks and haven't had trouble with any of them so far.  Thanks stupkid!

I can sync to Outlook 2003, but I usually use qtopiadesktop.

6000 - Tosa / getting Sharp ROM
« on: October 04, 2004, 03:43:33 pm »
I just got a SL-6000L last week and have wanted to do some playing around with other ROMs.  I can't find the copy of the Sharp ROM from any of the links around the forum, and I'm assuming that it is because its past Sept 30 and Sharp has dropped the site.  Anyway, I really want to get a copy of the Sharp ROM to use as a backup before I try GPE.  Can anyone send a copy to me or post a link so that I could download it.

Thanks!
