Sharp ROMs / Are there any limitations of Sharp v3 ROMS ?

I have just got a second hand SL5500, it runs the sharp 2.35 rom.
I want to upgrade to v3.10 (or open zaurus) but I want to be sure that all software will be compatible.
I read somewhere that the v3 roms have some large internal changes, or was this just in the address book info?
Does anyone know of limitations on applications, or compiling applications for version 3 roms?
Alternatively , does anyone know where to find a sharp v2.x ROM?
