Security and Networking / Remote Desktop?
« on: November 23, 2004, 02:01:45 am »
I have 860 Japanes std rom, and running qtrdesktop to my XP pro wirelessly full screen 604x480 graphics are extemely good - very sharp!
Some questions you have already probably tried.,..
1.) Are you allowing remote desktop connections on your XP machine
2.) Are you connecting via LAN or WAN - if WAN, is your firewall allowing traffic over the 2 ports - 80 and one other I can't remember offhand.

Give us more info on your problem/symptoms, and might be able to help..
Is qtrdesktop installed on your 860 OK?  You could try connecting to MY XP pro box over the Internet - private email me if you would like to try and I'll give you the IP address..  That might narrow down the problem to a handheld or PC config trouble.

For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: SL-5500
« on: November 05, 2004, 01:35:41 am »
OK, so I toasted the charging circuit on my 5500 while making a home battery extender - stupidly got +and- the wrong way round.  Now it won't charge the battery internally, but works fine if I charge the battery in the external charger, then place the battery in the Z, or run the Z connected to the AC adapter.
Got a bit fed up with only being able to use for 2 hours on the road, so bought a SL-C860 and now want to get a few bucks back for this one...  Here's what I'm selling:

  -  SL-5500 bought Nov 2003 in California - Latest Sharp ROM installed.

  -  Everything works great except charging circuit is faulty and loose stylus
(my son chewed the end off the original!!!)
  -  Original EA-BL06 Battery - works fine
  -  Box, Manuals, Installation CD
  -  AC Adapter
  -  Cradle
  -  24Mb Delkin Devices CF Card
  -  Stylus (from my new SL860 - a bit loose since I think they changed slightly)
(I bought a nicer metal one for my 860)
  -  Sharp External Battery Charger - I paid extra $ for this
  -  Nice Zaurus Leather Case (Black)
  -  Home Made Battery Extender (now working :-) - gives 8+ hours with 8 Ni-MH
(not including batteries - too heavy for the shipping cost!)

I recently moved to Japan, but will ship "as a gift", so you'll pay no import taxes.  Willing to ship anywhere.  You pay actual shipping probably around 20 bucks by air - cheaper by boat!  Alternatively, I'll be travelling to the UK and US Late Dec/Early Jan, so could ship from there if willing to wait.
I have no idea what to ask, so make me an offer.  I guess all the parts alone are worth something as spares to somebody.

I have a PayPal account
PM me if your interested in all/some of the above

General Discussion / Console Access on SL-C860
« on: October 13, 2004, 02:14:12 am »
Nope, no luck
I don't have a countdown, just 2 splash screens, one white with a Japanese message saying wait, then a second with the CG Silicon Logo and Zaurus Logo saying wait 1 minute (in Japanese also), then Qtopia starts
I tried "?", shift-"?" FN-"?"
Any other ideas - is this because I'm using the std Sharp ROM?

General Discussion / Console Access on SL-C860
« on: October 12, 2004, 10:41:14 pm »
Can anybody tell me how to get to the console on the 860 without starting Qtopia like I could do on my old 5500 by pressing the "/" key while booting..
There doesn't seem to be such an option on the 860, just a couple of startup screens.  I tries pressing "/", but no joy.
There is also no "Exit Qtopia" option like the 5500?
I'm running standard Sharp Japanese ROM with the locale changed to "en"
Thanks
