6000 - Tosa / Tkcvox Recording Longer Than 30 Minutes?

Thank you!  Before posting, I had come across your Feb, 2004 discussion with lardman and tumnus but could not complete the process.  I will use your additional detail and report back.

6000 - Tosa / Tkcvox Recording Longer Than 30 Minutes?
« on: April 26, 2006, 12:58:04 am »
I purchased tkcVox from the Kompany a couple weeks ago for recording talks I give / attend.  However, I could not get it to run longer than 30 minutes (it would not prevent suspend as a couple other programs do).  "Shaun" at the Kompany advised I should (paraphrasing) "set the suspend to a long time or disable it".  However, that is not possible using the standard utility.

It has been suggested that modifying qpe.conf would produce the desired results, but the file is over written every time the utility is used.   In addition, after several edits, I was only able to get tkcVox to run for 38 minutes at the longest.

After quite an email discourse with Shaun, he told me I was "the only one with this problem" and that I asked for a refund becuase I "found it inconvenient" to make the necessary changes to the suspend settings.

Am I totally out there?  Anyone use tkcVox on the 6000 (with or without Qtopia) and it just works?

thank you for the How-To, great pictures in the documentation!  I shall have to pick a weekend in the near future to put it together.

alge,

looks really nice, a couple q's:

- how is it working out for the 6K?   do you think a velcro fastener would work better for easy closing?
- how long to put together?
- source of leather? cobbler, craft store, other?

6000 - Tosa / Keyboards?
« on: December 20, 2004, 02:38:31 pm »
I have tried this:

GrandTec Virtually Indestructable Keyboard (VIK)

It seemed perfect, but the keys require very accurate precision--hitting 1/2 off or on the corner won't cut it.  With practice, I'm down to 2-3 errors per sentence...but it is still too much of a hassle.

Bob: I like your option, but I'm looking for something smaller, maybe I'll have to settle.  It  would fit in my bookbag, anyway.  What are the overall dimensions and what is the action like, a laptop keyboard?

General Discussion / wireless lan stats
« on: November 21, 2004, 05:07:01 pm »
Just got the wireless working on my Z!  Love it, mostly, but even with "-noimages" selected in Opera I yearn for the days when Lynx was usable for low-bandwidth connections.

With my built-in wireless connection on a 128-bit WEP key, I get almost 100/100 (strength/quaity)  at a few feet from the linksys router.  From there it's a linear drop to 30/4 at about 60 feet an severl walls away.

I maintain a love/ hate relationship with this built-in beybord.   :-)

6000 - Tosa / Who has a 6000?
« on: November 18, 2004, 01:41:49 am »
I had been looking for a paper-schdule replacement for several months.   I tried out a borrowed Palm and an iPaq, but they were just too crude and limited.  I read about the Zaurus 6000L somewhere, found this and a couple other sites and decided to add it to my Chirstmas list.  My girlfrient pickd it up off amazon about 3 weeks ago.  Love it's resolution, detail, flexibility, and even the standard apps.  (But planning on changing ROMs.)  I love and use GNU/Linux on my boxes, but am not a developer...I hope to contribute to this community in some other way, though.

My secondary purpose is to avoid wasting time, but not have to carry a laptop around.  With the little brother of this keyboard (now marketed as the PDA VIK?):

GrandTec Virtually Indestructible Keyboard

and the iriver USB cable found by hubcapboy (thanks!), I can get quite a bit of work done on the train, waiting around for late colleagues, etc.

Now i just need some cool wallpaper....
